Re: Exercise Iniochos 2024

They were hidden away on the Eastern side of the airfield and didn't fly during the Spottersday. Not sure they've done much flying at all throughout the Ex. All shot from the road. My frustrations stem from the ridiculous amount of time it took to get on base; nearly 2 hours from joining the queue ...

Re: Exercise Iniochos 2024

Lovely stuff there, nice to see some relatively tidy Greek '16s for a change but those Qataris - wow! Not hard to just add a tiny bit of interest is it?!!
Annoyed I just couldn't make this one work - did the Cypriot and Montenegro choppers turn up?

Re: Anatoly Nikolayevich Kvochur

A real shame to read this. Wrote his name into airshow history following his much recorded MiG-29 crash and rapid ejection at Paris and then onto a long (and relatively safe!) period of beautifully choreographed Su-27 displays either solo or leading the Test Pilots duo around the world. We were trea...

Re: Contractor Red-Air at Lakenheath query.

Reported in multiple places that the RAVN Hawks have headed to Prestwick from Lakenheath today, apparently on their way home - they haven't hung around on these shores for all that long (well, arrived in Early December but weren't regularly flying until Mid-January and have somewhat fizzled out in ...

Re: Cosford Airshow 2024 - 9th June 2024

When Cosford mentioned ‘you won’t have to imagine soon’ with regards to International participation, it could be as mundane as a static NH-90 and Baby Blue, so wouldn’t get hopes up. Last year though regardless of how poor the show was, I thought the crowd line was atrocious. Crammed in between hot...

Glad you've done this - was going to start a thread myself, deserves more than a footnote in the interesting internet thread. A UK airshow stalwart and has done so much to fly the flag for classic jet preservation and a thoroughly nice bloke to boot. Always a decent show in the loop, or indeed at lo...

The sun will be directly down the runway at around 1510, and then it will gradually move so that you're facing into it as the afternoon / evening go on. I was hoping that this wouldn't be the case, but i guess it is what it is. From what i can work out, if the aircraft do fly a topside in from the ...

I think the first flying one at Mildenhall was in 1983.
Indeed Mike, 2 in fact - USAF & Dutch. First in the UK at Alconbury, 1975, we didn't see another flying until Farnborough '80.

You might know exactly but as a quick guesstimate - with over 40 years of F-16s at IAT at say 10-20 examples a year on average ( flying, spares and static) . Must be over 500 total F-16 appearances - pushing toward 1000? Go on , I'm game! Your numbers aren't far out by my reckoning, First appeared ...

I can't make the open days (and tickets have already sold out) but seeing how easy it was to get over there for Air Defender I'm considering a couple of days. There was one at Duxford the other day, perhaps it was so that the IWM could check to see how much hangar space it will take up in their forthcoming Cold War exhibition
Very likely Mike, straight from trials into a museum. What an absolute disaster - why are the MoD so utterly crap at AEW?!?

The Firecat is a really lovely little gem. Midnight Hawks are lovely too. As awesome as the F-18C is from them, for the sake of variety, it’s nice to have that team back. With them, the Reds, and rumoured Saudis, it’s nice to see so many legacy Hawks in the air for the (unofficial) Hawk 50th year. ...
