Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

I believe all their demo teams are currently grounded Probably due to a safety review of all displays. Which is common practice after a fatal accident. For spotters of course it’s regrettable, but considering what happened at Gdynia, totally logical. Exactly this. These are professionals and will g...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

The thing I think is a little sad this year is with the 50th anniversary of the f16 it's going to be the 1st year (although caper will probably advise differently with his wisdom) that they'll be no demo from Holland or Belgium, 2 of the most common demos usually seem at RIAT. Oddly, Belgium took a...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

It’s an F-15 so relatively large machine. I’m sure it’ll be fine. Trying to cast my mind back to previous examples of Boeing sending the same display to RIAT and F’boro, and in 2014/16 the F/A-18 did seem to me to be quite high compared to the other displays, but otherwise perfectly fine. It didn’t...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

To be fair the response acted as if Bobby said ‘oh my the Polish Air Force now have to cancel urgh annoying 🙄’ He didn’t, he made a fair observation saying that he expects them to cancel then followed up by saying because the two demo teams are very close. The same response wasn’t given when indivi...

Anyone know how much P&V tickets are on the gate? I hate not having them beforehand but they went so ridiculously quickly this year... A kidney. They were £25pp in advance, more for Monday, not sure on the gate. Kidney is probably the cheaper option. Thought as much, another nice...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

Fairly sure the finish hawk mk.66 are in red and white schemes. Personally I’d rather see the normal ones with smokewinders but I can appeal to the rarity and interest of the mk66 Thanks, that will be very nice to see. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53738923578_00854ccba0_b.jpg Turku 070615 Ha...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

Fabulous. Who'd have thought in 2024 with the invasion of cold, dull, grey F-35s literally on our doorsteps we'll have so many "proper" cold war jets:- 5 Eagles, 4 Phantoms, 3 Hornets, 25 +/- F-16s, Skyhawk, 3 Tornado, 9 F-5, Harrier, Hunter, and, thanks to the Finns Hawks in red and white...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

It’s in a better place Further down the runway for rotation away from the building opposite Always wanted to be there for su22 f4 and tornado Not if they're on 09.. I'm not privvy to the FRIAT email but surely the current centre point is THE place to be giving the best option for take off direction?

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

I don't like this "one size fits all" RIAT thread; too much info. When I need to go back and research important stuff like what sandwiches to take, which Matchbox Skybuster die cast I need to bring or what time I need to get up, it's nigh on impossible. Now, let's have the above items as s...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

Here`s a question for experienced photographers. When the U2 takes off, in your opinion, by the time it reaches the FRIAT stand will it be a) still on the runway similar to older jets like F4s or Tornado`s b) lifted off runway at a photographical height c) lifted off and very high showing only the ...

Re: Blackburn Beverley anyone?

Must admit I prefer the desert scheme (is there anything preserved in light stone/dark earth?) but as long as it’s in one piece and looked after that’s the important thing. Light stone and dark earth is a great scheme but this was not accurately representing that scheme and I don't think this one w...

Yet again a lot planned for the Friday which is great as it gives the day a unique feel but sobering to look back at the truly crap weather that Friday has had over the years. Re: Interesting Internet

If it is actually an F2, and looking at the darker ring on the nose, is this the TIARA from Boscombe? It was the last F2 to still be flying, so would possibly be the only one in suitable condition for restoration to flight. As for historical scheme, all F2s were in early air defence greys, and only...
