Some of the 64th's F-16s are going the other way, several are now in the Have Glass scheme.

No runway = no nightshoots.
Except for helicopters!

Re: Red Flag 17-1, NAS Fallon, Rainbow trip *Large Post*
To those of you in the know, is there anything going on at Nellis when there's not a Red\Green Flag on? I might be going to Nevada in April and was wondering if it's worth spending a couple of hours near Nellis even if there's no exercise going on at that time? There's often stuff happening at Nell...

Hi viz jackets are mandatory at lots (but not all) airports and airfields. Gatwick and Heathrow are two that require them (and wearing them isn't enough, they have to be fastened up), Barbados is another (!!), but Headcorn is a hi-viz free environment (ah........), for the moment, anyway

Don't know if it's relevant but that one's a Mk6, the others are Mk 4s.

The 'wart' on the OT F-15 is something to do with the Talon HATE pod (which you can see in your shot 8582), there are two jets carrying the pod (022 and 026) and they both have it.

Joe Sutter, father of the 747
Passed away, at the age of 95.
A legend. RIP

His book is well worth a read, a fascinating insight into what to took to create the 747:

Hopefully it'll get reprinted, and the price will come down!

Re: JW 15-1 arrivals and a few locals, Lossie
First time I've seen an MPA run and break, any idea why? Because he can?! There was a German P-3 at Wittmund for the F-4 retirement event and it did something similar on arrival, but the weather wasn't good so that may have precluded a run and break. He went for a low, high speed pass instead. You ...

Re: Nellis AFB
The tricky bit is deciding where to go! It depends what you're after. If there's a northerly wind, landings on the 3s are likely so if you want landing shots Cheyenne is the place to be, morning and afternoon. http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii150/747woody/Red%20Flag%2013-3/729Nellis26thFebruary2...

There was always talk of various "black projects" being tested by the USAF out of Machrihanish, although at the height of the cold war were unconfirmed. These days most of the Aurora projects are the SRxx and YFxx demonstrators just flying out of Nelllis AFB. One aviation journalist in par...

At Albacete, as long as you stay away from the fence, you don't seem to get bothered. However I know people who have been moved on from Torrejon and Moron.
Alternatively, have a chat with this guy!

Re: 747 two ship
Bit unusual though. Although RVSM rules allow 1000' separation it should be in opposite directions, ie east bound traffic always uses the odd flight levels, 37,000' , 39,000' etc and east bound traffic uses the even flight levels. So D-ABVM should be at 39,000'. Nothing unusual about that crossing ...
