Re: British Phantom Aviation Group (Official Topic)

Yes flown in, and I think with none other than John Allison at the helm. I remember seeing the RAF installing the mobile arrester gear either side of the runway but didn’t realise what type was actually going to be arriving. Rob No, it was "Sqn Ldr Dai Whittington" and "Sqn Ldr Dave ...

Re: British Phantom Aviation Group (Official Topic)

Hi Guys, with the current topic being F-4J(UK)s, and I have seen brief mention of the Aircraft I am asking about, I saw ZE359 J possibly just after it had newly arrived at Duxford at the Museums Classic Fighter Show way back in Summer 1991 and am asking does anyone remember what it's date of delive...

Re: British Phantom Aviation Group (Official Topic)

Just out of interest and curiosity, can anyone tie up the 74 Sqdn Serials and tailcodes please for the F4J(UK)s as I am shortly due to start the Revell Model of the F4J as an RAF F4J(UK) and am interested to make it with tailcode T for Tiger(Surprise, Surprise) so wondered which serial it was pleas...

Re: British Phantom Aviation Group (Official Topic)

I have also just flicked quickly through a few books and most of the photos of the F-4J(UK) {never wasPhantom F.3} and most are either clean or just have the centreline tank. It never was F-4J(UK) either. It was just F-4J. TC2324 in his post of 11/8/19 on behalf of the group refers to her as an F-4...

Great pictures! Anyone know what the blue writing is on the noses by the serial (and the 1 1/2 kill markings on 818) I assume it's a kind of personal nose art as they're all different? That's almost certainly weathering on the top surface of the wings on 733. 583. Golan 706. North Star 715. Compass...

Middle East in East Anglia, 29th July 2019

I decided to take a gamble and try to get both the delayed Qatari C-130J arrival at Cambridge, and the RSAF F-15SA delivery into Lakenheath. It was a nervous wait trying to work out the prospective arrival times of both as the Herk droned up across France, whilst leaving enough time to drive up the ...

They have painted up at least 3 jets recently, specially for the end of service (not a bad percentage of the jets still operating at Marham). They are still flying sorties most days. The Op Shader jets have to come home, and this will hardly go un-noticed seeing is it ends numerous years of continuo...

To be honest, you've had getting on for 40 years to photograph them. I think that is ample time for you to have made the effort.

Leaving it to the last minute in the hope that an overstretched service can put in the time and manpower to accommodate your wishes is a bit much.
