Re: RIAT 2023 Discuss everything thread

Blue car park is getting very muddy now. Would help if they’d put tracking down the length of the field before you turn off to park. They have in some but not others like the one nearest the campsite. Don’t know whose idea this was but it’s unbelievable to think they haven’t learnt from previous ex...

Re: Northolt Night Photoshoot XXVIIa Thursday 13th October 2022

Well that’s how you resume the wonderful Northolt night photoshoots! Thanks to all involved in organising the event & Phil for yet again getting an impressive array of aircraft types. The Gazelle & Whirlwind looked fabulous under the lights. Any chance of getting the Wessex next time? Great ...

Before I make the journey tomorrow. Did anyone have any luck buying tickets on the gate this morning? Also how much were the tickets?

Thanks
My dad purchased one at P&V West. £20. Asked about one for tomorrow but was advised to purchase on the gate. Plenty of room in West today.

Didn’t think P&V West was open on the Friday show day. I assumed it was showground only. Website only advertises Thurs, Fri & Mon unless I’ve missed something.

Much appreciated putting questions to FRIAT to hopefully get clarification before RIAT starts. I have been Mach 3 but the rest of the family have always been Mach 1 & more than happy with this. It’s a massive price increase for all & will need to think hard about whether it is going to be wo...

Re: RIAT 2019

I was told it’s only for today in P&V West. The RIAT man said they’d make a decision on tomorrow depending on how busy it is. If you use West on Monday it will be back to normal with stepladders only allowed in the designated area. It’s working perfectly well today though & should be the nor...

Re: RIAT 2019

& there’s no need to worry about the barriers in P&V West. You’ll be plenty close enough so big lenses not required. Common sense has prevailed today as well with stepladders allowed 5m from the fence line. Decision made as it’s not crowded. Stepladder enclosure is similar size to last year....

Re: 09 arrivals

From my experience of arrivals at P&V West, most of those with stepladders position themselves far enough back from the fence & photograph over the top of those at the front. Never had a problem myself.

Thanks but such a shame that another decent viewing area for watching the pilots/ground crew getting ready & the aircraft taxiing out/in has been lost.

Re: RIAT 2017 (Discussion & Participation Thread)

Does anyone know if there has been any official confirmation as to whether the flying display fighter aircraft will be parked down the western end as in previous years (like Ramex Delta last year). Tried the west last year after 10+ years of always going east & thoroughly enjoyed it!

Thanks

Re: FRIAT Grandstand Seating Plan 2016

I'm always standing on the grass to the left of the enclosure for the same reason - extra space when using a 500mm lens. I only use my seat for departures but noticed that the space between the seats wasn't as good as previous years. There was also no room on Row A to put your bag behind the seat as...

Personally, I thought there was plenty of opportunity during the evening to get a clear photo of the Belgium from the front. You just had to bide your time. When I arrived in the car park I was also concerned about the parking of the aircraft but as has been said, the reason for this was made perfec...

For info. SVAS members will not be able to purchase on the day unlike the last time the Vulcan was at OW. Purchased my ticket today & they were saying tickets will be limited so you'd better get your ticket sooner rather than later.
