Re: Aviation- On This Day

Day two arrivals at RIAT 2016, a bit greyer, but still some good stuff with the stunning Lafayette Mirage 2000N from Ramex Delta the pick of the bunch. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50069723108_a85e2c5861_h.jpg b30 by Paul Downes , on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50069719308_5f46...

Cottesmore RIAT 2000

There was a slight air of nervousness in how good the Air Tattoo would be away from its established home in the Cotswolds, but we needn't have worried. Cottesmore handled two large shows with aplomb, hosting many gems as I'll try to show as I build up the posts. 2000 attracted some fabulous types wi...

Dusting off the scanner

Ages since I scanned so hoping these look OK, US Navy Test Pilots School NP-3D Orion at Boscombe Down in 2000 and a photocall at Coltishall the same year with Polish Su22s among others. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50085225232_715aa4c227_h.jpg img029 (2) by Paul Downes , on Flickr https://liv...

Great to see those two from 1974 Andy. The Connie is quite regularly featured in literature but the C-118 is overlooked, even though I think it was the only in service IAT appearance as with the C-121, so great to see. The Connie also kicked off the great association between the show and the Pennsyl...

First arrival day in 2016 for the majority, BAE Systems Typhoon and Canadian Aurora in the circuit as the gates opened. Decent weather and a large number of arrivals for a Wednesday. UK and USMC F-35s were on the move, Aussie KC-30 UK show debut, Greeks and Pakistani the highlights. https://live.sta...

Some more from the hareshow at Waddington 2014. Team Aspa made a rare UK appearance, Viggen and Draken both flew, and the RC-135 appeared for the first time. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50074801017_412682a0b5_h.jpg hare-bourne by Paul Downes , on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50...

Re: Another Brick in the wall - the Buccaneer

Great stuff Nigel, lovely shot of 988, so pleased at least one survived to be seen around in the original scheme,

I think your take off is 1989 IAT and not up on here before. Quality scanning too.

Very nice Dan, second one looks like one of those cultural special artworks like appeared on the BA jets for a time.

Do like your shot of 949 in the toned down scheme.

Get on your Trike- the TriStar and RAF Tristar

Somewhat of a rare beast relatively in terms of US built modern jetliners, only 250 were built compared to more than 600 of the DC-10/KC-10/MD-11 family. Aside from a couple of pseudo Government flight aircraft, the only military operated ones were the nine short version 500s purchased by the Royal ...

Not sure how much of the spectator area they are opening at Old Warden, but where the vehicles are parked near the tower is OK, if you're behind the central road you're a long way back. If they are using the parkland as well its a long way off the intimate action. Good luck to them, and to everyone ...

I'm sure the only reasons we left the car at Mildenhall was for the loo and to get burgers
And miss the chance to get up close with a Blackbird dripping fuel, a B-1, a row of Phantoms and Lightnings, a Tomcat, etc etc etc?
