Re: RIAT 2024 wishlist.

Surely F-16 would be the target for RIAT this year?

Re: Apache AH1 Farewell Flypast - 25th March 2024

1300 Leonardo Helicopters, Yeovil and 1410 Stirling Lines, Hereford. Missing from map according to FighterControl. They flew just east of my house heading north in Leominster about 2.20pm and I had no idea about the flypast, just thought it slightly unusual having four Apaches over in loose formati...

Let's start with the only two seater, still preserved but now painted in a very odd colour. This was taken back in 1997. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50227211347_c5620e49ac_b.jpg YA-10B Thunderbolt II 73-1664 ex US Air Force/Fairchild Republic by Paul Downes , on Flickr Lizard schemed Pope ma...

Re: RIAT 2024 wishlist.

Just realised with the Indian Navy ongoing, the Mig-29's range is 2100km with fuel tanks. The distance to the UK from India is 7,600km. Doubt we'll be seeing them then! Unless they do multiple stopovers (which I cant see happening) or a big if would they sail the aircraft carrier nearer for them to...

Certainly striking, but I've no idea what all that psychadelic puff the magic dragon stuff going on in the middle represents.

WTD61 have not been historically great sending specials across in the past, so don't get any hopes up.

Yes the shows from 1984 onwards were incredible for anyone interested in Soviet designed hardware. Up to the 1998 show I believe we had seen the following types from various exhibitors: MiG21 , MiG29 , MiG31, MiG-AT Su24, Su25, Su27 , Su28, Su30 , Su35 , Su37 plus the aerobatic prop jobs Tu22M , Tu2...

What do you mean dodgy?

A show so poor these days in its delivery, they are too ashamed to let the unwashed masses in.

Re: RIAT 2024 wishlist.

Lovely scheme on the Spanish ones.

They sound good as well, although no looping or rolling there like you get in the French display, maybe as it was getting dark?

They've all got A400s now, they could sling one in the back and rebuild it for the display.

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

They'll have to chuck one in the back of an A400 that's coming over for the show then!

Did wonder, as the French ones never seem to get over here either. Let's hope for their sake Corsica never has an uprising!

Well at least he's not going for rocket power I guess, light touch paper and retreat. And the glider flies well in Germany.

I don't know Prof, the most interesting movement of the day, and it catches you off guard? Tut tut.

Trouble is with Galaxies they are so small and quiet when moving around an airfield, almost stealth like, easily done.

I just think it's quite cool that the first US ace since Vietnam was flying a Harrier, rather than one of these new fangled F-15s or some other bolshy fast pointy thing.
But Harriers are fast, and nowadays they are also pointy?

A solid F-16 display, can't complain.

Nothing coming from Japan this year (Goodbye to the hope of the Zero). Oh well.
At least there won't be any F-2s to contaminate the F-16 line.

The German NH90 display team has put out a post on their Instagram which has them listed as attending RIAT this year. Edit... That has since been deleted! Its a very good demo, but we do need the Tiger before they are consigned to the bin. (apologies wishlisting but more in reference to the NH90)
