Re: Help needed - Disabled parking Friday

As I have had no repiles to my original request. Are there any campsites close the Kempsford to Whelford Road who allow paid day parking where I could park the car and push the wheelchair to the approach ?

Thanks

Help needed - Disabled parking Friday

Sorry to a bit off topic, I hope someone can help ? I have bought a disabled friend in a wheelchair to the Park and View from Wed to Fri for about 10 years. I have to leave about 1 to 1-30 pm on Fri due to work commitments. This was fine when Fri was P&V but with the show now on a Friday it was ...

Rich

Where did you park up and stand for your photo's ? We tried to get under the approach end for Rwy 27 and got nothing but hassle even though we were on foot. So tried the eastern end, Bineham / Pyle Lane but again met with 'jobs worths' stopping people and this was at 0730 in the morning !

Re: Yeovilton Friday Arrivals

A post on the Net from someone who called in briefly at Yeovilton today said that they were restricting access, to both approaches to the runway even for people on foot. Can anyone confirm this. It appears that there were airshow inbounds today including the Team Aquilla.

Re: RIAT 2015

It's the petty squabbling and the personal comments on this forum that stopped me posting to it a while ago. However, has anyone noticed that it has been reported that there is 4 ( ish ) SU-30's from the Indian Air Force due at Coningsby on the 15th July, with support aircraft at Brize, ( allegedly ...

Re: Yeovilton Friday Arrivals

Somerset County Council have yet again published their Draconian restrictions for the Airshow. Various closures are in place from Thu to Sat which appear to be covering an even wider area. Basically, no person on foot, or with a bike or vehicle will be let into the closed area apart from the obvious...

Fairford Air Tattoo Camping

Hi

Did anyone stay at the Fairford Air Tattoo Camping site on the Kempsford to Whelford road last year ? If so what did they think of it ? I notice that their website has not really been updated for 2015. Thanks.

Re: Dawlish Air Show 2014

Hello I will be working in Exeter, so will get to Dawlish for the first time. How do you get to the 'hill', do you park at the Smugglers Inn and take the path next door through the fields or do you go north from the pub by 200 metres and then take the south west coastal path up to the hill ? Any hel...

Re: RIAT 2014 - Participation Thread

Ignoring all the speculation on this group, from my US contact here are the facts. The F-35's will not depart before Monday at the earliest. They will only depart then if the grounding is lifted and other flight criteria are met. At present this looks unlikely. If they depart as late as Wednesday th...

Be handy if they knew where their own campsite was !!! That red area, as others have stated is on the road from Whelford to Fairford. Nowhere near the original map showing it North of Kempsford and south of the Runway ???

The Tropical Storm has been upgraded to Hurricane Arthur and will be passing over Maryland on Friday. More likely Sat of Sun for the F-35's if 'other factors' do not come into play.

Re: RIAT 2014 - Participation Thread

Just to complicate the F-35 Atlantic flight even more, they now have another problem. The National Hurricane Centre is showing Tropical Storm Arthur currently located off of Florida and is predicted to track up the East coast of the States reaching Pax River sometime during Friday ? So if they don't...

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but ...

The US military have upped the suspension of flying to a complete grounding of all of the F-35 fleet.

Re: RIAT 2014 - Participation Thread

I am sorry but it has got to be said. With less than 3 weeks to go, quite simply, it's the most dreadful line up for RIAT in history, with only a couple of exceptions. If you exclude all the civil dross, the warbirds, ( some of which are nice ) and the aerobatic teams which we have all seen numerous...

Fairford Friday - Road one way system - Help needed

I wonder if any one 'in the know' can help ? I will be going to Fairford on the Friday with a disabled friend. We already have a disabled parking permit organised and I am aware that we will be in the Red Car Park. However, I need some information on any one way system that may be in place, ( we are...

Yeovilton Friday Arrivals

Does anyone know if the Draconian restrictions placed on the sheep field under the approach in the past couple of years are to employed again this year ? If that is the case then for the first time in almost 30 years, I will not be bothering with arrivals or the air show, especially as the list of p...

Re: 2014 RIAT Friday Arrivals ?

Nothing daft about it at all. My suggestion would be, if you have nothing to say, don't say it ! In the 12 years I worked for the IAT, the outline Ops plan for next years show was established by Oct / Nov, so it is a perfectly reasonable assumption that those 'in the know' will have a provisional pl...

Re: 2014 RIAT Friday Arrivals ?

Thanks Andy, I had read most of that. My US friends have a possible Photo Trip around a RAF Base on Friday so they are keen to find out. With the reduced number of aircraft at RIAT over the past few years they could easily get everything in on Wed and Thu which would only leave any 'tech' stragglers...
