Re: Lt. 'Hoagy' Carmichael Sea Fury WJ232/114

Thanks for the feedback and further comments chaps. As with all these things the final decision on re-paints always rests with the aircraft owners.

Steve - maybe you could email that photo to me please? address is cadman2000 (than the 'at' symbol) gmail.com

Many thanks again ;-)

Re: Lt. 'Hoagy' Carmichael Sea Fury WJ232/114

Thanks again Steve. I'm still very puzzled about the source for the hundreds of profiles, decals, models and paintings. Is all that just guesswork/artistic license? I even found one with a Squadron crest and pilots/crewchief name under the cockpit - again is this just made up? Are there any decent p...

Re: Lt. 'Hoagy' Carmichael Sea Fury WJ232/114

Thanks for the quick response Steve.

Thats a shame - so what info were the myriad of paintings, profiles, models, decal sheets etc etc based on?

Lt. 'Hoagy' Carmichael Sea Fury WJ232/114

Can anyone kindly point me in the direction of an original photo/s of this machine please?

There are ton of models and artwork profiles out there but no period photo that I can see.

Many thanks!

Re: Current aircraft being restored to flight

It was hardly 'a short period of refurbishment' as described in the magazine link. It was a very in-depth structural re-build to return TE392 to stock condition
and much credit should be given to Performance Aero at Archerfield for their excellent work over the past few years.

Its actually only recently fitted and is removable when the rear seat is occupied.

You may have also noticed the K-14 gunsight and the gear wells have been completely overhauled, re-finished and detailed.

Re: Peter Teichman retiring

Peter has asked me to post the following on his behalf: I would like to thank everyone for their very kind and humbling comments. Yes, this is my last display season but to be accurate, Southport 2018 will not in fact be my last display. That will be at Old Warden on 7th October 2018 when I will bow...

Re: [Random question] Russian Spitfire cockpits

You called!

Not much remains of the instruments on the Spit in question - but there was no sign of any Russian lettering or placarding anywhere in the cockpit - what remains is standard.

Re: Red Tail Mustang at North Weald

Not the case - certainly as far as we can deduce all earlier published representations of this scheme were done with 'artistic license'. The two photos we obtained were directly from the pilot's personal collection and have not, as far as we at H11 are aware, ever before published. In fact we could ...

Re: Hangar 11 Mustang - New Paint Scheme

Thank you all for the positive comments The H11 team and the chaps at RAS worked extremely hard to deliver the most accurate 332nd scheme we could, together with 332nd historian Craig Huntly and of course, the original pilot of 'Tall In The Saddle', Lt.Col George Hardy - who crucially supplied unpub...

Re: Question re the Grace Spitfire

Nick made the actual first flight as seen in the video! The CAA required an approved test pilot to fly the aircraft prior to the issue of the permt and that was done on a subsequent flight. In terms of experience/qualification, I believe (and I am going from memory) that the first flight of ML407 wa...

Follow the peri-track, through the Saturday Market (the largest outdoor market in the UK) By late afternoon it will be the remains of the market, knee-deep in discarded boxes and packaging. Do please drive carefully as there is a lot of debris around and also a small army of people trying to clean ...
