Re: New CAA CAP 403 Display Regs Published

Swansea claim over 170,000 attended last year's airshow. Apart from the carpark charges there's the money made from leasing space to the tat-stalls , catering concessions & at least one posh hospitality area. Think they also charge for the airshow programme. This year , they've also got their o...

Traveling back (pun) to the Goodwood Revival 2015

Very mixed weather (hey, it's the UK) and particularly awkward for the BoB 75th anniversary flypast. Always a treat to experience though. https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1544/24523762154_2a72fa1bfe_b.jpg DSC_8643-GoodwoodRev-11-9-15-PhilWhalley by Phil Whalley , on Flickr https://farm2.staticflickr.c...

Re: UK Air Show research project...

Only one I had a problem with was Q17 & it's supplementary. The answer was yes , I have attended overseas airshows........the problem is that I did so a number of years ago , so the follow-up question didn't really apply ( airshow regulations having changed a lot since then ) Conversely, on ans...

Richard Paver in the back. Total guess, but maybe Boultbee's Willy Hackett in the front? He was around at the Revival wearing one of the event patches on his flight suit and he isn't quoted as piloting any of the other aircraft.

Re: 1990 Battle of Britain commemoration at Abingdon

Can't say that I recall the traffic being that much worst then usual for an Abingdon show. We got in without too much trouble. I joined the A34 from the M4 at about 07:30 then inched along for about six hours, stopping to watch the flypast from an overbridge: m None of the other Abingdon shows were...

'End of the runway. As you know, a few months back we hit a roadblock in our 2015 event. Although most aspects of the event were proceeding apace (we had secured an great flight card including the Red Arrows and the last display of the Vulcan among others), we were forced to relocate the event due t...

Re: Aircraft in TV shows

I watched them film some sequences for 'Bugs' (BBC) of a car chase that ended in a crash in front of Vulcan XL426 at Southend when she was still over the back. When screened the chase began at Stapleford before jumping to the access tracks to the 'boneyard' at Southend.

Re: A busy 2014

The Midair cockpit shot is just about the least pleasing angle on a Hunter I can imagine - sometimes the shot isn't about cramming as much in as possible. Less is often more in photography. Dan, the purpose of the visit was to introduce the Midair Squadron, and that was one of the few angles that p...

A busy 2014 (Pic heavy)

It's been a ridiculously busy aviation year for me and I've barely scraped the surface of the material on my drives. I don't think I've put much, if anything, on UKAR this year so here's a pictorial diary of my year. Starting with the penultimate pair of RAF Tristars into Bruntingthorpe: http://img....

Re: Goodwood Help Please

The aircraft at Goodwood don't display as such, as they are overflying the circuit and the public. They either make complete circles, gaining height behind the circuit to the east and diving down for the passes, or make dumbell turns out to the north and south. Neither is really dependent on wind di...

It was very likely from WoW 2013. The Anson footage would also be from the show, and taken by Historical Aviation Film Unit who were in the credits. m Check out their Youtube edits.
