I know DanB's going to hate this, but the Griffon with the bubble canopy types are the best looking Spits.

Re: RIAT 2013 Review

Speaking for myself , the only reason I came away feeling I had had a pretty good day was because my expectations had sunk so low over the last few months, that I was expecting an all out catastrophe. That left me able to enjoy a show that was a shadow of RIAT 2012. I think that is very true, and w...

The UPS galaxy is awesome. The Typhoon is vile, not that I'm trying to make work for you, but always thought a Typhoon in Flanker splinter camo would look good.

Great shots from the "Kill Zone" Dan, esp SNAFU and a superb angle on the B-17.

Re: Canada's Federal government cancels F-35 fighter purchas

Was reading the other day the F-35 budget is now the equivalent of three-quarters of the total cost of the US war in Afghanistan. The ultimate white elephant. Do you stare at a Typhoon and say damn we could have built 2 km's of motorway with that! No I stare at it and think "there she is.........

Anyway, there's no Spiteful or Seafang. Thanks for all the replies, I was asked the question and did not know. Both Spiteful and Seafang looked like quite dynamic designs, a pity that no survivor exists anywhere. Is it maybe a little odd that an example of a development of such an iconic aircraft i...

Spitfire Development Aircraft Survivors

Does anyone know if there are any survivors in museums of the aircraft directly derived from the Spitfire?

Obviously the Seafire is about, but what about the Spiteful or the Seafang?

Not trolling Dan. I'll leave the insults to you. I was just curious whether people were even interested in returning to a site where the same 'vim and vigour' that led to their original banning still exists in such copious amounts... Blimey. If that is how you feel, you're under no pressure to stay.

Low Level RAF Helicopter Formation

There was a tight 'V' formation of a Chinook, Merlin and Puma at low level, heading north, over east northants. Quite an impressive sight. Anybody know why?

Re: Fast Jet Displays - what works?

Great idea for a thread. The most underused manoeuvre in my opinion is the missed approach (touch-and-go). This is always looks impressive as it is close to the crowd. It gives the crowd a real feel of the power and acceleration of the aircraft. Secondly another underused manoeuvre is the fast, larg...

Although it would be fun to blast the "Turds in Tophats" (The Conservative government) over this one I think that the system is more to blame. The MOD should not have responsibility for this it should be a capital project and should maintained as something of national interest. The idea th...

I agree, that said I really like the look of the J-20. The likes of the F-22 and F-35 get a lot of stick for their looks, but I'd certainly take either over a Typhoon, Gripen or J-10 in the looks department.
