Re: RIAT 2023 Discuss everything thread

Did anyone else see Peter R's Tweet last night about working for months on something and then it falling through at the 11th hour? He has subsequently deleted it. I'm wondering whether it was referring to the Zambian participation and hopefully not something we don't know has cancelled yet!

Re: Cosford Airshow 2023 (discuss everything)

Why not have a row of statics - however meagre in one place? Why not line the helicopters up behind the Hercules so there's a specific area for people to visit? It just seemed as though it hadn't been thought out. It hadn't, us with scanners on the station will tell you. The Organisation was a sham...

Re: RIAT ATC

Another question to ask if I may. Why are the taxiways renamed for the show and not left as the original airfield designations?

Re: RIAT ATC

Will the northern taxiway and dispersal be unavailable this year because of the building work? How will that affect your juggling workload?!

Re: Validation displays at air shows

It really depends on the circumstances and discussions between the Flying Display Director, Flying Control Committee and display crew after the validation. In some cases another validation will be required, others not. In 2005 at RIAT, the RAF Typhoon did not have to validate again and flew the rou...

Re: RAF Cosford Air Show 2019 - Sunday 9th June 2019

Selection of stalls seem to get worse year on year, very few seemed to have an aviation focus. Completely agree with this. There was a time when every other stall in a show would sell model kits but as far as I could see there was one this year! More and more stalls selling crap like the one that w...

Re: Challenge coins at the show

I bought patches from the Navy Merlin, German Lynx and Orion. I did buy a coin from the Navy Merlin too (although it's quite small in size) and a nice D-Day commemorative coin from the Red Arrows trailer so challenge coins were out there but not as many as I would have liked as I collect them myself...

Wanted: Fairford B-52 Deployment Goodies

If anyone is popping to Fairford I have heard that the crews are selling t-shirts and patches. I was wondering if someone might be able to pick me up something or if anyone has any spares? I'd obviously pay for postage costs!
Thanks

I've stayed at that Travelodge. The approach is right over the hotel but the rooms must have triple glazing or something because you can't hear a thing inside, maybe just a distant rumble!

Re: Kempsford Camping

We were in the top field at the top hedge by the fire / water point. Not the one in the very corner squashed in by the fence but next to it with the green tent and blue car. Definitely a pitch with marker pegs either side of us. Not sure why the water kept going off though!

What did we all buy?

Enjoyed reading through the thread last year so thought I'd start one for this year! Spent far too much money again(!) but came away with some nice goodies! Australian AF - Squadron Print and small RIAT patch (the larger PVC ones had sold out already!) Ukrainian AF - mug, RIAT patch, challenge coin,...

Wind 040/03kts forecasting 050/05kts. From what was posted before I’d have a guess that we’ll be on 27. Anyone know any different? Looks like it'll be right on the edge again. If the gusts reach what they did yesterday I imagine 09 but we'll see. I am at East and it is very busy. People being warne...

Just as a head's up - Monday's park and view is nearly sold out according to the lady at park and view today. They have sold out online and the only tickets left are the few on sale now at the park and view ticket booth before it reaches capacity.

Re: RIAT 2017 (Discussion & Participation Thread)

Could this Ukrainian talk be anything to do with the post Tom made about the aviation gods shining down and something coming together for RIAT 2017 a few weeks ago or did we conclude that was non aircraft related?
