Re: RAF Upper Heyford

It’s great to read all your stories from the glory days at Heyford, please keep them coming. It’s a base I often drive past and wonder what life was like in times gone by. A family member of mine worked within the Officers Mess during the days of the B47. Just out of interest, once all the F111s lef...

2017 Blu-Ray

Hi all, Just received my copy of this years show on Blu-Ray from Planes TV and sadly it doesn’t seem to work. Within the first minute it freezes, and continues to do so throughout the playback ( even after skipping a few chapters). I am just wondering if anyone else has had this issue at all? I have...

Is this just the transit route for the Reds?

Boulmer is holding its families day tomorrow, I believe aircraft will fly over the airfield on transit to East Fortune from Sunderland.

Re: USAF RC-135 ops to move to RAF Fairford

If RIAT does move from Fairford, I wonder if Wittering is a possible solution ? Does the station have a similar design to Cottesmore from the Harrier days? And I believe the airfield is still in use by Flying Training School so the airfield is still in a fairly good condition, without numerous Sqns ...

Re: The UKAR Gaming Thread

Just wondering if anyone on here has tried the Battlefield 1 Beta yet? Managed to fire an hour into it tonight on the PS4, and I am very pleased so far! Very enjoyable gameplay, very good visuals etc! Think it has swayed me to pre order it! Be interesting to hear others thoughts on the game! Cheers,...

I am also hoping to camp at Kempsford this year with my parents and brother, have been going to Riat since the early 90's and have always been envious of watching those enjoy a nice bbq after the show whilst we trundle to the car for the drive home. We were planning to arrive on the Monday, can anyo...

Re: Canon 7D Mk ii- worth the upgrade?

Just a quick update, thank you all for the advice, I eventually decided to go for the Canon 70D, after much thought, I decided this would be the most suitable next step up! Looking forward to using it this summer at RIAT

Currently one happy airman!

Re: Canon 7D Mk ii- worth the upgrade?

Have just been researching the Canon 70D, do you think this would perhaps be a safer option to go to this from my 600D? I would use the new body for the flying aircraft , with the Sigma 150-500, which I only purchased last year, and the 600d will be used for the static shots with a smaller lens. Tha...

Thank you both for the replies.

I shall look at renting a camera body first before purchasing anything!

Thanks again, your help is much appreciated!

Canon 7D Mk ii- worth the upgrade?

Hi everybody, Just a question that I want your advice on really! Currently own a 600D with the Bigma 150-500 Lens, however I am thinking about purchasing an upgrade ! The 7D mk ii is out, is it worth the extra spend over the original? The new upgrade would mainly be used for air shows or wildlife, w...

Re: Official RIAT Statement – November 2013

The Mach pass buyers are the ones the local area needs. They're the ones who book the hotels, drink in the pubs, eat in the restaurants. If they desert the show, you're left with the day-trippers who offer nothing to the local community but traffic congestion on the show days. Lose the local commun...

Re: Official RIAT Statement – November 2013

I would say neither the above , I just know that from attending various shows this year, such as flying legend and volunteering at leuchars , that I regard fairford as a cut above the rest . It's not perfect but it's something. I'm sure families pay £50 to not just watch the aircraft however? It's a...

Re: Official RIAT Statement – November 2013

Indeed I am , because I know that times are changing and that it is becoming more difficult to get the large numbers of aircraft that once ruled the skies of fairford back in the 1990s. As stated in previous posts let us not forget that the Americans were not at this years show which took a large nu...
