Re: Aircraft seen randomly at unexpected but most welcome ti
More at home than my original post drove from Bristol to do a walk from an AA guide around Stonehenge. Needed the break from the city and never been before. Towards the end I could hear a helicopter but just couldn't see it. Suddenly from behind an Apache flew straight overhead so low. Looked just l...

Aircraft seen randomly at unexpected but most welcome times
A couple of months ago I was in Cairo and whilst at the Pyramids 2 Egyptian Chinooks flew straight over. I've obviously never seen Egyptian Chinooks so it was pretty special and totally unexpected. It got me thinking about other times I've randomly seen special aircraft at unexpected times. I can th...

Re: Your favourite UK airshow 2019?
I am an incredibly glass half full person in all walks of life apart from airshows. Been to RIAT over 25 times and Yeovilton and Cosford the last 5 at least and the buzz is still there. I fully understand that the airshow gold has gone but I'm also a realist. Personally I'd rather have what we have ...

Re: Did anyone go on the wheel?
Ever the opposite of general opinion I was quite interested in the wheel. I will always remember opening my RIAT programme and seeing the full page image above all the static going on for miles and thought I'dove to see it. However the wheel was quite away from the main line so I didn't go up. Would...

I'm not a photographer who may have a different opinion but as a simple viewer some fantastic light conditions to watch the display today.

Re: RIAT 2019
Italian Typhoon from Totterdown was a little bit scarey! Fabulous display. Concerning the Frecce I do agree but surely it's down the capability of the aircraft which seems so much more manoeuvrable for the Italians.

Re: RIAT 2019
I will certainly be in the minority here but as someone who doesn't photo the static anymore I actually thought it was very well done. The Spartans were in a nice group (bar one), I like how the Flanker was part of the fighter section and actually think a lot of thought had been put into it.

I don't recommend trying Totterdown unless you can park in Fairford and walk there. The queue to get in must have been 50 cars at 6.45am

Re: RIAT 2019
Arrived at Red same time as usual and so much busier both on the road and getting in. At Yeovilton they scan and check before gates open and you go into a kind of holding pen before gates open. Speeds things up so much. Still I see a sun and I'm sat down and I'm happy.

Re: RIAT 2019 weather watch.
Weather constantly changing on Met Office. At last Saturday seems to be looking better but tomorrow looks interesting. If stuff can get in the air could be some great vapour though.

Re: Royal Navy International Air Day 2019
I thought today was fabulous. The highlight is being able to easily get a comfortable show centre position. It makes such a difference. Apart from some aforementioned distant displays many seemed very close. At RIAT helicopter displays can seem wasted but they were excellent today and at times seeim...

Re: RIAT 2019
Getting in my Delorean and going back 10 years it was always a given for me that at RIAT, for example, you would have a B52, B1 and A10 on static and Hercules, Mig 29 and Tornado in the air. These days are now a hope not a given. Apologies if my dates are wrong but RIAT 2010 there I was passively wa...

Eurocopter Tigre attendance at UK Airshow
Ever since the Tigre appeared in Goldeneye way back in 1995 I longed to see one. I've been to most RIAT since and I don't ever recall seeing one. Have I missed it and does anyone know where it may have attended in UK? Looking at the Bastille Day flypast I just find it surprising I've never seen one ...
