Re: Blackburn Beverley anyone?

I just thought I'd post this section of the above link as I found it interesting: In the months prior to the auction, volunteers of the Fort Paull Battery Heritage Site CIC (FPBHS CIC) have done their utmost to guarantee the future of the Beverley as a museum object. They were completely smashed by ...

Re: Favourite bit of fence

Lovely photos!

I really must get myself down there soon. What's Spitfire Corner like for casual spotting?

I live in Falmouth and work 3am - 1pm and I can never drag myself when I finish, and Culdrose is so quiet these days.

Re: Possible format for RIAT2021

Some of the ideas in this thread are insane. I can't see any RIAT happening with any sort of format changes beside extra sanitising spaces, and other basic hygiene steps. The scale of the operation is just too big to allow for anything else in my opinion, and if they made some of the drastic changes...

Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - 18th-20th September.

I've worked nigh on every day during the outbreak. I manage transport for a company that delivers food to hospitals, schools, care homes, and the hospitality trade, in Cornwall. Now, I guarantee I am going to be safer at Duxford than I have been in the town I live in Cornwall for the past 6-8 weeks....

Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - 18th-20th September.

Even with my tickets bought, I'm leaning towards not attending this one now. I'd have hoped for a little more in the display, even in the current times, and it's a long way for me to travel.

Re: Boris Force One?

I have no problem with a VIP RAF aircraft, I just vomit in my mouth a little every time I hear "Boris" or "BoJo" because the man is despicable. Sadly, the irony that the flag is splashed across a product of European cooperation is entirely lost on many people, who have taken to Facebook to express h...

Re: Duxford Shows: 2020

Look at it another way. Duxford depends on visitor revenue from all sources to be the attraction it is. Make an effort to go, put some money into the museum and even if it is "just a few warbirds" it will help the 2021 shows go ahead (and a few of the staff keep their jobs.) This is a fair point, a...

I was driving around Culdrose a couple of days ago and it does sadden me to think that there will be no more Air Days. When the weather was good, it was a brilliant day, and where I caught "the bug" for aviation.

Boris Johnson's A330 in Union flag paint scheme alongside Red Arrows! I can't think of much worse to be honest... And, don't think I'm picking on you, but I can't really understand the relevance of Tom Moore being a guest of honour either. Well, actually, I would quite like to see the Voya...

Re: Social Distance Spotting

Well Boris says we should all go back to work if you can avoid using public transport, so assuming most bases are out of the way and most of us use cars, why don't you all head off back to work? I mean people can't go to work if their workplace isn't open. I live in Cornwall where the vast majority...

Re: Social Distance Spotting

I understand the "common sense" argument, but I fail to see how this will be policed.

There is so much open to interpretation in there with regards to open spaces etc. How do you police something like a hobby which is ultimately subjective? What is "essential" to one may seem meaningless to another.

I was more hoping someone had made better sense from it all than me, who could add some clarity, rather than a ruling of any kind. I wouldn't want to go out unless I knew I was in the right in doing so.

Re: Social Distance Spotting

Can you point to any paperwork/laws that say spotting is classed as exercise? No, but my understanding is that from Wednesday, you can travel to other destinations (such as beauty spots) where you can sit, picnic, etc, as long as you maintain social distancing. You do not have to be there to exerci...

Social Distance Spotting

I imagine many in the UK are thinking it, but does the slight easing of rules mean that we are okay to go and sit at the end of runways again? With the probable loss of the entire 2020 season, this could be a welcome outlet.
