Re: Boris Force One?

I have no problem with a VIP RAF aircraft, I just vomit in my mouth a little every time I hear "Boris" or "BoJo" because the man is despicable. Sadly, the irony that the flag is splashed across a product of European cooperation is entirely lost on many people, who have taken to Facebook to express h...

Re: Boris Force One?

Clearly going to be a marmite scheme...

Personally I think it looks pants. To me, it looks unfinished and has the feel of a budget airline.

Re: Duxford Shows: 2020

Look at it another way. Duxford depends on visitor revenue from all sources to be the attraction it is. Make an effort to go, put some money into the museum and even if it is "just a few warbirds" it will help the 2021 shows go ahead (and a few of the staff keep their jobs.) This is a fair point, a...

Re: Culdrose Air Day 2017

I was driving around Culdrose a couple of days ago and it does sadden me to think that there will be no more Air Days. When the weather was good, it was a brilliant day, and where I caught "the bug" for aviation.

Boris Johnson's A330 in Union flag paint scheme alongside Red Arrows! I can't think of much worse to be honest... And, don't think I'm picking on you, but I can't really understand the relevance of Tom Moore being a guest of honour either. Well, actually, I would quite like to see the Voya...

Re: Social Distance Spotting

Well Boris says we should all go back to work if you can avoid using public transport, so assuming most bases are out of the way and most of us use cars, why don't you all head off back to work? I mean people can't go to work if their workplace isn't open. I live in Cornwall where the vast majority...

Re: Social Distance Spotting

I understand the "common sense" argument, but I fail to see how this will be policed.

There is so much open to interpretation in there with regards to open spaces etc. How do you police something like a hobby which is ultimately subjective? What is "essential" to one may seem meaningless to another.

Re: Social Distance Spotting

I was more hoping someone had made better sense from it all than me, who could add some clarity, rather than a ruling of any kind. I wouldn't want to go out unless I knew I was in the right in doing so.

Re: Social Distance Spotting

Can you point to any paperwork/laws that say spotting is classed as exercise? No, but my understanding is that from Wednesday, you can travel to other destinations (such as beauty spots) where you can sit, picnic, etc, as long as you maintain social distancing. You do not have to be there to exerci...

Social Distance Spotting

I imagine many in the UK are thinking it, but does the slight easing of rules mean that we are okay to go and sit at the end of runways again? With the probable loss of the entire 2020 season, this could be a welcome outlet.

Re: RIAT 2020

I am resigned to the show being cancelled. I'm not assuming that we'll get a refund at all, but I would prefer my FRIAT be transferred to 2021 if they would do that. Likewise for Kempsford.

Re: RIAT 2020

As some smaller events reschedule and cancel for May, I sadly think that cancellation will occur for June and July shows relatively soon.

Presumably due to the sheer scale of RIAT, the planning involved, and use of RAF Fairford, a reschedule would not be possible?

Re: Will air shows be cancelled because of coronavirus

At work today, where I am fortunate to hold a relatively high position, we are looking at contingency plans. I no longer think that there is much hope of seeing any shows in the UK until at least August. I work for a wholesaler, and I honestly fear for many small businesses in the hospitality trade....

Re: Will air shows be cancelled because of coronavirus

We know plenty about what is happening, that’s the point. It’s playing out in several countries ahead of us and some of those countries, Korea for example, have provided a lot of very good data. Added to which, the modelling of these events is fairly straightforward. It’s nice that you’re optimisti...
