Excellent photos - well composed and exposed, and great effort getting prop blur on the Osprey. Look forward to seeing more.

Great set but that b&w lanc is very special - the clarity on the cockpit is amazing.

Re: Fidelity International Horse Trials

No.2 would look great as a magazine cover. Start e-mailing horsey magazines mate. Decent set (number 1 with the moment of suspension is my favourite), but to me image no 2 is slightly blurred and been over-sharpened in an attempt to rescue it - plus she didn't win so why would it go on a cover? I'd...

Re: Photo shoot for flight school - advice needed

I'd ask what the client wants. If they are looking to use them in a publication then will they need space for copy, what is the aim of the brochure, how are they going to use them. Sure look at other sites but there's little point replicating shots if they don't catch the USP that they are after to ...

Really enjoyed looking at this excellent set of images - well composed and edited, no special photoshop effects to hide a duff/boring photo. Loved 'em.

Re: Sharp, Short (under 100mm) Lens

Well we appear to have different experiences of the 50mm - it lives on one of my 5d II for every wedding and has even taken over from my 70-200 for my indoor equestrian work (attached to 1D mkIII). Tack sharp, no vignette and no focusing issues. 24-70 lives in my bag and very rarely gets used these ...

Re: Sharp, Short (under 100mm) Lens

hunt around and find someone selling a good price 24-70mm 2.8 its simply the best lens Canon produce under the 100mm mark. You didnt mention what your camera is but i can vouch for any 5dmkII owner. . Stunning! and is leaps and bounds better than the 24-105mm glass ermmm not quite sure I agree - th...

Re: Camera settings for shooting RAW

But I'd stay well away from canon's own effort, I find it very limiting and not that much good. Totally agree. It's super quick at importing but that is about it. I used Capture One for several years but switched to Lightroom as I found it easier to fit to my workflow and the quality is near enough...

I say once again, where did I actually state that I had been asked/commissioned by the crew to produce a professional set of images? Answer, nowhere! Other than in my original post where I said 'they wanted a photographer on the ground'. Ermmmm your post of 1st November: "Several firsts for me...

Nice pictures, but your "refusing to fire the shutter" problem is most likely the camera failing to autofocus in the low lighting conditions. Happens to me sometimes on my 350D.

And to me on my 5DII!!

Some really excellent images there Holty - IMHO best you've done.

Re: Flying with 27 Sqn

Simon, even allowing for the less-than-ideal conditions, for commissioned work, these are very substandard. Even the static ground based images suffer from softness, and the cockpit work suggests these are rushed "snaps" rather than properly framed and considered images. Sorry to be criti...

Herc over Suffolk

Working in Bury St Edmunds today and had this beauty come low over us (taken with 200mm and filled frame so that gives some indication of proximity!). Apologies for the lack of prop blur - had camera set up for other things. Hope it is of some intertest. http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4020/458212935...
