Re: Kempsford Camping 2011

Talking of free loaders,, last year , on arrival , we pitched up on the Thursday, to find the fence line in the bottom field was all taken up , no problem to us we set up camp in the same spot as the previous year. The two 'old boys' had their seats pressed so close to the fence if the sun had come ...

Re: Kempsford Camping 2011

I'm going again for the third time too. I have just one real problem with the place,,,,, tha,t cough , cough, so called 'band' on the Saturday night were absolute garbage. We (My mates and I ) are all thick skinned and love no more than to relax after the Saturday show with a few pints, but a bloke ...

Re: Lakenheath question

I must have been lucky , on my visit there in 2009 I kept being buzzed by a "Pavehawk ??" no matter where I hid he found me!!...LOl Seriously, it did quite a few passes of the park and view area during the build up to a launch of 16 Eagles.

Re: Aircraft doing a Barrel Roll

I remember reading (Whether it's true or not I don't know) that when the 747 flew through that volcano ash cloud in 1982 and lost all four engines, that it performed some sort of roll that 'bump' started it again!

Re: BBMF At Southport Airshow 2009 pictures query

I've just been through my Flickr set of Southport 2009 and I don't have any shots of them (Which I would have if they displayed) so I don't think they did , not on the Sunday anyway.

Sorry to be pedantic , but I'm pretty sure it was Louis Bleriot who performed the first non stop cross channel flight, either that or he got a bit wet and it was hushed up at the time !!

Re: Your two biggest issues about RIAT 2010

My chief gripe has to be the state of the seats in the "Grand cough , cough, Stand" any body over 15 stone found they broke underneath them, I had to watch the show more or less squatting, definitely supporting my self with my legs any way, to stop myself sliding off. To be honest I have h...

Re: Warning: Public + FRIAT Grandstand seats.

I too was on the front row of the grandstand and I did think the hand rail to be slightly (Not a lot) higher than last year. I didn't complain about my broken seat(s) as the young lad there was the same one from last year, who I complained to then, about a lump of sharp weld that hadn't been ground ...

Re: Warning: Public + FRIAT Grandstand seats.

I'm glad I read this thread (After I got back!!) as I too had the ignominity of breaking mine !! I then moved to a vacant seat next to me which I proceeded to break too!! I had to watch the show more or less in a squating position to stop me sliding off!! And this is no exageration, my legs are stil...

Re: Kempsford camping 2010 (RIAT)

I arrived at 12 noon on Thursday, in bright sunshine, the wind did hamper the erection of my tent , but my mates coped amicably for me whilst I sat there and supervised !! ( No biceps and three compressed vertabrae restrict me in that department!!) I felt really sorry for any body who was trying to ...

So who saw the reds at Yeovilton, have then changed their script about red 4? What will they say at RIAT in the hands of Mr O'Hagan? The script won't change as it will still be Red 10 commentating, ( I only saw then 6 times last year and the commentry was always the same , never got bored with it t...

I t doesn't mean that you can get a free flight in a baloon, (Then again , show them big Moo cow eyes and you nev...

It's strange isn't it , when at an air show 99.9% of them you will hear , "Sorry to announce at such short notice but due to ................................... so and so will not be able to attend " you never hear that "And now something of a suprise , a last second, and welcome addi...

Well after reading all the twaddle from the minority of you, I need a stiff one, make that a large stiff one, "White Horse Whisky?" no thank you, I don't want it that large!!
I might try a few at Kempsford when I hope a 'Bone' turns up at RIAT (A large 'Bone' that is)

Re: Warbirds through the Loop has it ever happened???

I doubt it was used to train pilots in the war (Although I would never say never) as it was a totally different type of combat to todays "Sneek up and get them" back then it was "Shoot 'em down if you see them"
