This is a worrying development for anyone interested in GA and in Vulcan aircraft moving under their own power:

What was the name of that guy who said he would run naked around his RAF base with a rose between his bum if ever XH558 flew?

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?
I think you are missing a key part of the plan.... that an investor builds the hangar on behalf of the Trust; not the airport. That investor would no doubt seek a suitable land-lease and agree terms with the Airport and Trust that suits all parties. In that, a return on the investment made by any in...

I think Jetman was referring to the organised events over the last two years, not in Club/airshow/flying days.

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?
Never seen bubbles under the vinyl on commercial aircraft. These can clearly be seen in the pictures. Bubbles.... Mmmm...those would probably be from the rivets in the aircraft skin and as to the yellow shading, a reflection from the hi-viz of the cameraman. Also, as they are applied wet and the ph...

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?
I can assure you the names plaques are made from high-quality 3M 'aircraft grade' vinyl, the same type used on commercial jets often flying in minus 30 celcius temperatures above 30,000 feet. The whole idea of them falling off and being put back on by screws with washers is just ludicrous and you wo...

XM657..... The VTTS Club members were a reliable source of donations, not forgetting that the VTTS Club routinely donated upwards of £30k PA ( and more during the various Appeals ) That's a guaranteed income they aren't getting any more. Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?
I was actually on site between the two locations on Tuesday, fitting the Wing Names commemorating the 10th Anniversary of 1st flight to XH558. About three hours in total, on quite a blustery day with swirling gusts. Not once did I smell anything. It is my understanding the 'sewage' part is minimal a...

Re: Canberra WK163 to be restored to flight
To ensure WK163 is not exposed to the elements any more than she needs to be, we have appointed contractors ahead of having the full funding in place to cover the dismantling, transport and re-assembly of the aircraft, so we can get the aircraft under cover at Doncaster just as soon as possible. Th...

Looks nice.
Perhaps if that rear supporting structure could be painted black (or dark green), it would look better and not too bad against the grass in daytime??

Just an interesting, if not horrifying thought...... Let's make the assumption it has been hijacked. Not for ransom but for the airframe, which, one assumes could, with a paint job and someone filing a civilian flight plan be 'seen' as just an aircraft squaking correct codes going about its busines...

Re: Red Arrows plan 'surprises' for 50th anniversary season
In their own words off this page: m The Red Arrows began training in late 1964 to prepare for the 1965 Air Display Season. The squadron was officially constituted on 1 March 1965. The first official display was on 6 May 1965 at Royal Air Force Little Rissington in Gloucestershire. This was a special...

Re: Canberra to fly
I support the Vulcan but to be fair after the cock up with its permit to fly at Waddo 2009 I think only a change of management would have given them a chance to find a long term main sponsor, I mean would you want to spend all your company's marketing funds on something that seemed to be being run ...
