Re: Image stabilisation help

Yes, IS makes a difference, especially when shooting at slower shutter speeds like with props and helicopters.

Re: Antidotum Air Show Leszno 2024 (21-22.06.24)

To be fair, I thought Friday was better than Saturday last year, much less crowded, and the F-16 running in from behind the crowd was actually a surprise. On Saturday everybody seemed to think that was a cool idea so the Typhoon, PC-9 and C-130 all started their displays running in from behind the c...

Canon RF 200-800mm

Has anyone tried shooting aviation with this lens yet? I was a bit worried about F9 being the maximum aperture on the long end, but I've seen quite a few videos from different wildlife photographers on YouTube who seem to be very happy with it, so I'm still quite intrigued.

Re: Antidotum Air Show Leszno 2024 (21-22.06.24)

Loved the Alpha Jets at Radom last year, that's a great first announcement. I went to Leszno for the first time last year and I loved it, the relaxed atmosphere mixed with a lot of great flying and some really interesting participants was just great - even my wife, who's had her fill of airshows, en...

Re: RIAT 2024 wishlist.

I seem to recall the Ukrainian Flanker attending RIAT 2017 shortly after an RAF official had approved their display/helped them work up a routine? Same with the Romanian Mig? I recall RAF typhoons being out there just before its announcement? The Ukrainians stopped doing displays after the 2002 Lvi...

Re: RIAT 2024 wishlist.

I know there's about as much chance as Tarantino calling me up to star in one of his movies, but the F-35C demo would be insane. The display is pretty lacklustre compared to the USAF F-35A display, but the C- looks a lot better to me than the A-, and it would be great to see the display without a b...

Re: Telemark Airshow 2023

Nice shots The Norwegian Historic Flight folks announced a while back that they would not be operating the MiG this year due to shortage of funds and personnel. Come to think of it, it’s a few years since I’ve seen their T-33 either. The MiG-15/Lim-2 was slated to fly at the Telemark Airshow, but w...

Re: Radom Air Show 2023 (26-27 August)

I agree about the Typhoon, I thought it was pretty good. Zeus on the other hand, not so much. It was a bit better when viewed from the "naughty field", but from the crowd line it was simply too far away and to high to have any real impact.

Re: Radom Air Show 2023 (26-27 August)

Didnt know Pat Swiss used flares. They have a great display already and it makes them in a league of their own as a spectacle.. Only for the last 20 years. They have used flares for the final break for a long time, but they use flares throughout the whole routine now, which I think is new(ish) - gr...

Re: Radom Air Show 2023 (26-27 August)

We've had a great time at Radom. Though I can certainly see why people are complaining about the "one half litre bottle per person" rule and the long queues to get in, that didn't really affect us in the spotter enclosure. I have to say though that even though I didn't expect much from the...

Re: Radom Air Show 2023 (26-27 August)

Lots of people fainting because you could only bring 500ml of water! The queues to the *LIMITED* water refill points are massive. BTW there are still people waiting to get into the showground at 2pm local time. Joke. We went for the spotter pack and were pleasantly surprised, no queues to get in, w...

Re: Radom Air Show 2023 (26-27 August)

Anybody know if and when the Skaryszewska street will be closed on show days? I'm assuming it's going to be open tomorrow, we're planning on heading down to Radom tomorrow for a bit of a teaser before the show, then doing Saturday inside, and Sunday outside.

The local water company mentioned they will supply free water refill points. So if you take a half liter bottle, you could refill as many times as you want
Which is fair enough, but I was hoping to avoid queuing to get water several times a day. And it's a bit early to trust the weather forecasts ;)

Re: Radom Air Show 2023 (26-27 August)

The program on their Facebook page looks a bit different and lists the Su-22, MiG-29 and FA-50 for a pyrotechnics display after the flypast. And the Su-22 again in the evening. But yeah, no MiG-29 solo - I wasn't expecting a full display from it, but a bit of turning and bruning would have been appr...

Great! Seeing as Poland is going to be getting the F-35 I was hoping they'd find a way to show one off to the people at home.

Re: Radom Air Show 2023 (26-27 August)

On the basis that first-timers will visit Radom this year, the following information, or a link to where it's been posted in English previously would be much appreciated. a] What time does Skaryszewska Street close to traffic each day? b] When access closed for cars, can people/cyclists still pass ...

What are you most looking forward to, or what are you still waiting for, at the Radom Air Show?
For me personally it's the MiG-29 and the Su-22, it's probably going to be the last time I see any of them in the air - at the same time I'm looking forward to seeing the FA-50 for the first time.

I do hope we get the MiG-15 pair this year, and perhaps a TS-8 Bies
I was in contact with the Fundacja Eskadra guys a while back, and they said then that they were doing Radom, so fingers crossed.

I wouldn't expect a spot on the opposite side of the runway this year either, but then again they do have just that at Leszno - it's a much smaller event of course, but I'm assuming they'd both have to adhere to the same rules.

Re: Radom Air Show 2023 (26-27 August)

Sod it, i'm going to book a flight to Warsaw and try and get myself there! It's fairly easy to get to Radom from Warsaw, the train, like others have mentioned, is one option - but personally I've always flown to Warsaw, rented a car and driven down - it's only about an hour by car. We'll be doing t...
