Re: 1Sqn disbandment special scheme

What about proper all-over retro schemes - would love to have seen a GR9 dressed up as a GR3

Have patience and you may be rewarded. Might be as a GR1 though. May also be some other fins on the way.

Re: End of 4 and 41 SQD Harriers 29/10/10 ?

No JFH flying on Fridays from now on. Witt may see a single move this Friday to recover a jet. IV Sqn is not disbanding first, or moving to Cott. 41 Sqns jets will be leaving Coningsby sometime soon though for Cott/Witt.

Hope this helps.

Re: End of 4 and 41 SQD Harriers 29/10/10 ?

SISMORE Not sure where you are getting your info from but IV(R) Sqn aren't going anywhere. OCU training has stopped but other flying will continue at both Cott and Witt by all 3 sqns up until around the 15 Dec 10 when a celebration/mass flypast will be held. Sqns will return in the New Year for admi...

Re: End of 4 and 41 SQD Harriers 29/10/10 ?

There was plenty of life left. OSD was 2018 with a no cost extension up to 2024 possible. Aghanistan actually used more hours but a lot less fatigue life and in effect extended the possible OSD.

Re: Wittering and its Ski Jump

Nope GR9s can and do use the ramp (as its called rather than "Ski Jump") all the time. The T12 has never had a clearance for CVS operations (unlike the T8) and so is not alllowed to use the ramp. It wouldn't be impossible though - the Italian TAV8B is used on Giuseppe. Both Cott and Witt r...

Re: Spitfire and Harrier Flypast, RAF Cottesmore 20/05/10

It's not fuel dumping - its just switched on the water injection for the steep climb which results in the exhaust becoming a lot smokier. Fuel dumps are at the wingtips and would look like white vapour.

1 Sqn flying all this sunday if anyone is interested in abit of weekend photography.

Re: HMS Illustrious off Lossie

It's not participating in CQWI. IV Sqn are onboard conducting a carrier qualification period. The ship will be using Lossie as a diversion but it could easily move back down the East coast to Leuchars/Newcastle to chase the weather! The next exercise for the ship will be Joint Warrior for Naval Stri...

It's now onboard Illustrious and will be staying there through the ships visit to London, due to return back to Cottesmore on Monday. Glad you like it!
