That looks like a place I should visit... too bad it's on the other side of the Atlantic! Lovely photos, thanks!

What a lovely Tempest set.
I could not agree more! The more I see of that Tempest, the more I like it.

Re: P-51D Mustang "Jersey Jerk"

All depends on how they marketed the event. If they promised the photographers a 'first look' at this P-51, it would be odd to have it parked out on the airfield all day for others to photograph it first. If you had paid for that privileged 'first look', you would no doubt be a bit peeved to see var...

No Jaffa Cakes mentioned at all in this update!
True, but did you spot the not-quite-fully-closed lid on the port ammo bay? I reckon there are loads of them in there and they couldn't shut it properly!

Now that the cat's out of the bag... I get the impression that this is a serious attempt to save the airframe and I wish them well! It will be an interesting move to Carlisle, but hopefully it will enjoy many more years there.

Re: Duxford Diary 2024

They are actually the same blisters and were present on the aircraft long before 1976 (a photo in 'Spitfire In Blue' by Hugh Smallwood shows them fitted in 1960/61). We have no reason to believe they are anything other than original wartime fitment. Thanks for that Mark V. I thought I had found a p...

Hi all, Did anyone get any photos of Harvard T6G G-BGHU on Sunday 7th Jan? It was my first few trips in the front seat and it would be great to have a picture for my logbook if anyone has one. Thanks in advance! Congrats on graduating to the front seat of a T-6/Harvard! It's an impressive beast fro...

Re: New CAA registrations G-RNTB / RNFA

Having it fly conventionally is at least a foot in the door. Who knows, it may lead to further extensions of its flight envelope when the operator can show that the type can be operated safely and successfully for a number of years.

Re: Duxford Diary 2024

There are pictures online of PL965 in the museum at Overloon which show that it had the blisters fitted then, so that would make sense. Photos suggest that the underwing blisters were fitted during a refurbishment at RAF Brüggen in 1976, here is a photo that shows them (or one of them): https://www...

Camo for me, not only because I like the looks of it but also because you can pay homage to two different phases of the airframe's life that way.

Also.... it's (partially) green and it's pretty close to Christmas.... and I cannot think of another reason but there is a tenuous link there... right? 😉

Was there ever any efforts to restore P-51D Mustang 'Big Beautiful Doll' after its 2011 crash or was it too destroyed? Re: Cornwall aviation heritage centre

Nice photos, thanks for sharing them! ZA148 was 'abandoned' twice if you ask me. The short-lived 'Classic Air Force' at Newquay started out with big promises but pulled out of the plans after only two years. The Cornwall Aviation Heritage Centre was set up to rescue what was left, built up a nice co...
