Re: Air France Breguet 763 Provence, Toussus-le-Noble, France.

Now that takes me back to when I used to see those climbing out over my school in Kent when I were just a gawky teenager.....

Back off, Boeing 747 and Airbus A380, neither of you were the first "double-deck" airliner.

Re: B734 Exeter hard touchdown 19/01/21

Several posts on there blaming the crew. Is it not possible that the aircraft might have suffered the effects of wind shear or a microburst?

I will wait for the AAIB report to find out what actually happened, as should be the case with any such incident.

Re: 48 Hour Photo Comp - Best of 2020

I was fortunate (in an aviation enthusiast sense) in 2020 as I attended all the Old Warden Fly-in shows and all the Duxford Showcase days which were not cancelled and also managed a visit to Lakenheath for the F-16 deployment (in superb weather for September) These three represent a snapshot of the ...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

The area I live in is supposed to be in Tier 4 of the current regulations. Really? Today I decided to combine my daily exercise with some shopping (which I needed to do else I would run out of food). Therefore I walked to the major supermarket which I normally use. It is not that far, about a 15 min...

Same as every year; nothing. My friends and family all agreed some time ago that Christmas and birthday cards and presents are a waste of money and time. We don't need them to know that we value each other.

Well, I'd say over 60 you make your own mind up about putting what's left of your life on hold, over 70 you should probably do as you are told. I am 73 and still "economically active" i.e I still work in a manual industry making water features which involves milling, turning, welding and sheet meta...

Too valuable to fly as it’s unique. Look what happened to the Northrop N-9. Same for the Comet at Shuttleworth. (Finds hard hat and hides under stairs) So I take it that you would be in favour of grounding almost the entire Shuttleworth Collection since most of their aircraft are also unique? Of co...

Worried about catching, carrying or transmitting Covid-19?

If you're a business executive you don't need to.

I was taken to the SBAC show at Farnborough in 1956 (aged 9). There were a few shows in the 1960s which I attended as school outings and then on my own, including Rochester which was the first time I ever saw the Cosmic Wind "Ballerina" (almost can't believe I was still watching and photographing/vi...

Re: The UKAR politics thread

This argument of the "cushy job" public sector versus the "shoulder to the wheel, nose to the grindstone" private sector comes up time after time. My answer to those who glorify the private sector whilst decrying the "easy jobs for life" public sector is very simple; If the work in the public sector...

I would have thought Trump would be more concerned about the potential legal challenges that might be headed his way when he leaves Office than running for the Presidency again. IF any of the purported legal/criminal charges which it is suggested will be faced by Donald Trump after he leaves office...

Re: Photoshop and other with sky change software.

Anyway, at the end of the day aviation photography is never about the background, it is more about the type or the registration of the subject than having a pretty sky! To many aviation photographers that may be true but I would much rather take a photograph of an aircraft (or most other subjects) ...

Some of the reactions to my earlier post show that people do not read posts carefully enough. At no point did I suggest that vaccination should be mandatory. Some of the responses are based on the "civil liberties" argument. The problem with that is that while people should indeed be free to choose,...

Isn't that an attack on people with health conditions who may be affected by a vaccine if its not checked out by thier GP's first (to check out thier (sic)medical records)? Re: Battle of Britain Airshow 2020 - Cancelled

I was given to understand that tickets had been limited to 15,000, many of which would have been sold as "early bird" or to IWM members at a discount, so rather less than £1 million, but still a lot of money. 15,000 a day for Saturday and Sunday and a lower number for Friday is my understanding. An...

There’s also the small matter of needing the liquid funds to pay out for around 30,000 tickets sold at £35 each. Say £1m in round figures.
