Re: Duxford Airshows 2021

Traffic coming from the Royston direction has been prevented from turning right into the Land Warfare Hall end of the airfield for some time (at least two or three years). I used to do that every time but now that option is "coned off" and anyone coming from that direction has to continue either to ...

Re: Duxford Airshows 2021

Once again we have several attendees complaining about the time taken to exit the car park after the show and once again much of the delay was due to the same factors, which also apply at most other shows. Firstly the old syndrome of people arriving over a considerable period and then all wanting to...

Abigndon offical facebook page reporting tower as 132.9, havent got display but guess it will be a common one Thanks to both of you. I do have the "common air show frequencies" programmed into several scanners but it is much easier to pre-select a channel than to scan and possibly lock on to a "wro...

I am no expert, but it looks like it could have made a safe landing on land. It flipped over when the wheels hit the water.
Do you really think the pilot wouldn't have made a "safe landing on land" if he/she had that option available?

Re: Formula One 2021

Is it not interesting to note that while most F1 spectators wear "normal" casual clothing or the colours (team shirt, for example) of the team/driver they support, Max Verstappen's fans wear orange, which does not appear in Red Bull's colours?

Re: Big jet TV YouTube channel

The character behind the Big Jet TV Lies and Fakery page has a new outlet, Big Jet TV Members Lounge. His latest wheeze is to copy and re-stream BJTV's member's-only streams, saying he's doing this as a 'public service'. Why BJTV doesn't get a lawyer involved I don't know... Checked them out, and t...

The IWM Duxford facebook page on 06-08-2021 is claiming that there will be a two hour flying display Firstly, I don't "do" Facebook (or Twitter anything similar). From the web site -
North American Harvard, Yakovlev Yak-50 and Mudry CAP 10

They still state on their website that if restrictions are lifted, allowing them to run a ‘normal’ event, the £10 fee for a parking space will be refunded. Presumably as yesterday’s event was nowhere near a sell-out, even with the large boxes still in place, this commitment has conveniently slipped...

he reason the leaders are able to get past the backmarkers so 'easily', isn't down to those at the back, moving over of their own freewill but down to the rules, and the blue flag procedures which states that if the driver being shown the blue flag, doesn't move over within 3 waved blue flags, they...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

To those who believe that wearing a mask is/was "an assault on my freedom" I make the following points; If you visit a construction site (sometimes even just to make a delivery) you will usually be required to wear steel toe-capped boots, a hard hat and a high-vis vest/coat. If you visit a large foo...

Further to my previous post, one of the reasons I would in any event be reluctant to "update" my system is that in past such "updates" (such as from 8 to 10) I have found it necessary to re-install several often-used applications in a tedious, time consuming procedure due to minor memory address var...

Speaking of American spelling, why do they leave the "i" out of "Aluminium" but not any other element or compound which ends in "ium" such as Uranium, Cadmium, Sodium, Palladium etc.? Those who discovered the element or compound had the right to name it; a convention which is respected world wide. I...

Tickets are not far off RIAT prices (yeh I know, what's RIAT?) for this show. Shuttleworth know if shows happen they have a strong format with the drive ins and can make hay. It depends. If the pilot can prove that this was "an essential maintenance flight" such as for an engine check then the flight was legal under current rules.

Back off, Boeing 747 and Airbus A380, neither of you were the first "double-deck" airliner.
