Re: Proud to be British?

Back to the title of the post.
I was born in England before WW2.
I served in the Royal Air Force.
I have just received the first of my Covid 19 Vaccinations.

Why should I not be proud to be British.

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

As I am in my 80s and one of those who are most at risk, I received my Covid-19 vaccination this afternoon, and as I live in the area covered by Tier 4 I just hope that it works. I assume you mean your first of 2? Hi. Correct, I have to go back in 21 days for my second dose. I must say that the sta...

In the late 1950s I lived quite near to RAF Burtonwood and the B45s were regular visitors to the base, seem to remember that they were very smokey on take-off. Robin.

Re: Airshow melancholy.

The first airshow that I remember attending was one that took place at Speke Airport, Liverpool, on 21 May 1956. This show was one of the first public air displays to take place after WW2 and was attended by a large number of spectators. This airshow was mainly remembered as it was during this event...

Re: F1 ( and other motorsports ) 2020

That was a most enjoyable Grand Prix this afternoon, with the result being in doubt right up to the flag. It all started with a vigorous rendition of the Italian National anthem and a flypast by four Typhoons from the Italian Air Force, one with some very nice commemorative tail art. Robin.

Would this also include a display at Jersey. I attended the display over St Helier last year which was excellent, except for some rather mixed weather.

Olivia de Havilland at 104. I wonder which film will be shown as a tribute. :innocent: In early 1939, just before I was born, my parents went to see the film "The Adventures of Robin Hood" starring Errol Flynn and Olivia de Havilland, as they were looking for names for the new baby they decided on ...

Re: BA retires entire Boeing 747 fleet

Only flown on a 747 once, that was from LHR to JFK and was rather special, in that my return flight was on Concorde, on one of its last scheduled flights into London. I will never forget our landing at JFK because on approach, the pilot announced that he may not be able to land because there were ve...

Had a couple of messages from my Daughter in Jersey to say that C17 ZZ174 has spent most of the afternoon circling the airport, this is causing great interest to the locals who are missing the regular civil airline traffic.

Just saw a single Apache complete with doughnut fly at low level over Maidstone in a Northerly direction. As it was behind a row of trees and given the level of noise, there could have been another one. Robin.

Re: A Day in the Life - Graf Zeppelin Out and About, 4 May 1976

Thank you for those reminders. Those were the days for spotting, by then I had almost 20 years of numbers in my log-book, having joined the ROC in the early 50s and done 2 years National Service in the RAF. I re-joined the ROC in the early 70s, but they had now gone nuclear and so I joined the MOD a...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

To put this message into context, I am in my 80s, have diabetes, live on my own and have a 'dicky ticker'. This morning I called into the pharmacy to collect a repeat prescription, while there I asked if I could get a 'new' face-mask as mine was looking rather tatty as I wear it every-time I go out ...

There were many types of a/c in use t...
