Thanks, TB. I live on the other side of Town to the barracks, thought that may have been the case, given his altitude. Robin.

Puma-Low level over Kent.
this morning we had a Puma transit over the County Town at quite a low level, first time in a Northerly direction and then an hour later on the opposite route. These are rather a rarity these days. Robin.

Re: COP26 a Load of This! (PICTURE HEAVY)
Hi Dan.
thank you for a wonderful selection of pictures from the COP26 conference, also a big thank you for providing details of the aircraft concerned, as many of us are not as good as we should be in recognizing these modern aircraft.

In the late 1950s I lived quite near to RAF Burtonwood and the B45s were regular visitors to the base, seem to remember that they were very smokey on take-off. Robin.

Re: Airshow melancholy.
The first airshow that I remember attending was one that took place at Speke Airport, Liverpool, on 21 May 1956. This show was one of the first public air displays to take place after WW2 and was attended by a large number of spectators. This airshow was mainly remembered as it was during this event...

Re: Guernsey Air Display 2020
Had a call today from my daughter who lives in Jersey that it has been decided not to hold an Air Show in Jersey this year, however, it is hoped to hold one there next year.

Would this also include a display at Jersey. I attended the display over St Helier last year which was excellent, except for some rather mixed weather.

Re: BA retires entire Boeing 747 fleet
Only flown on a 747 once, that was from LHR to JFK and was rather special, in that my return flight was on Concorde, on one of its last scheduled flights into London. I will never forget our landing at JFK because on approach, the pilot announced that he may not be able to land because there were ve...

Re: ASCOT462 at East Midlands Airport
Had a couple of messages from my Daughter in Jersey to say that C17 ZZ174 has spent most of the afternoon circling the airport, this is causing great interest to the locals who are missing the regular civil airline traffic.

Just saw a single Apache complete with doughnut fly at low level over Maidstone in a Northerly direction. As it was behind a row of trees and given the level of noise, there could have been another one. Robin.

Re: A Day in the Life - Graf Zeppelin Out and About, 4 May 1976
Thank you for those reminders. Those were the days for spotting, by then I had almost 20 years of numbers in my log-book, having joined the ROC in the early 50s and done 2 years National Service in the RAF. I re-joined the ROC in the early 70s, but they had now gone nuclear and so I joined the MOD a...

Re: Lossiemouth from the Fence in the Sixties
Re the pointy nose Hunter.... Thank you for your very interesting reply. During my National Service in the RAF from 1960 to 62, I served a short detachment in early 1961 at IAM Farnborough, working mainly in the High Altitude Section and living in the RAE Mess. There were many types of a/c in use t...
