Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.
It might be premature, but since this lockdown was announced, I’ve actually been quite optimistic. The most optimistic I’ve been for many many months. Things are going in the right direction. Same, the figures on vaccinations make very good reading, unless you live on Wales, where things are happen...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.
Tens of thousands of small businesses are set to receive insurance payouts covering losses in the first national lockdown, following a court ruling. The Supreme Court found in favour of small firms receiving payments from business interruption insurance policies. For some, it could provide the life...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.
I didn't think that it would ever be possible for Johnson to achieve a dirty trick lower then I thought him capable of. Yet he's just stood there and told people to avoid theatres and bars, but has refused to close them. Because if he did they could claim on their insurance. This way, they'll just ...

Re: RIAT 2021 Participation and Discussion Thread
It's nearly Mid January, by now I'd have my accommodation booked, tickets bought for Arrivals days and be looking forward to updates on what's due to be there, but I haven't done any of it. Apart from the fact that my business has been hugely affected (try operating a Guesthouse in a Global Pandemic...

The point is he wont stop he will cause havoc the next 14 days and I think some republicans have just woken up to this. This. I would remind everyone, if it's needed or not, that he also has control of the nuclear codes. We'll wait to see what happens today, but a letter has already been sent to Th...

Problem is, you can scrap the xmas rules, but it wont stop people seeing family at xmas and it will be hard to police It's a real problem this. Gov makes rules, to try and stop NHS becoming overwhelmed. People are tired of the rules and so break them. NHS becomes overwhelmed and people blame The Go...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.
Well Christmas was going to be a pretty quiet occasion this year, but even our scaled down one looks under threat now. Wales has increasing numbers, albeit mostly in South Wales and London, areas of Hertfordshire and Essex are also entering Tier3 restrictions. The worrying development of a "New Vari...

Fantastic stuff, love Mull, a beautiful place. Where did you catch the Otters? Me and Mrs M had a wonderful 20 minutes at Croggan with one and another siting by the Golf Course at Craignure. Have to get back up there again next year......

Lovely stuff Andy. Was the Yellow Eyed Penguin at Curio Bay? Spent about 7 hours over 2 days there, waiting for a 5 minute glimpse  . Had a better view of them taking The Elm Wildlife tour on the Otago Peninsula, from Dunedin a couple of years back, 7 in about an hour, running the gauntlet of ...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.
The point of the circuit-break is to halt the exponential rise in cases. Regional lockdowns already helped slow the acceleration, but was not slowed enough by them. There lockdown has only been for one week so far, it’ll take 10-14 days to see any material slowdown, I guess. This is what I can't ge...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.
Possibly I didn't phrase it right. I know no-one wants a lockdown, but some are more 'keen' than others. So, let's say we've had our 'circuit breaker', would it of worked? Personally, I doubt it. Again, look at March, cases took 6 weeks to drop ( and actually initially continued to rise). The main ...

Johnson has to go, surely. Last week it was "political opportunism" from Starmer, even yesterday Raab was towing the regional line. YESTERDAY! Making my blood boil. Utter incompetence from the top down. Yes, he HAS to go. Step forward the next for the poison Chalice......Gove?? Oh great..... The wo...

Re: Your holiday plans
No holidays for me this year, had to cancel two earlier trips to Europe during the lockdown. Local Lockdowns appear to be the new way of shutting things down, without flushing the entire economy down the toilet. Thankfully, North Wales appears to be fully open for anyone fancying a short break in a ...

Hard to see anything positive from this announcement, both for Duxford as a venue and Historic Aviation generally.
