Sad to see it go, as access at Lossie will be a lot more difficult. On the other hand, I'm hoping it'll be well looked after up there.

Re: Duxford flying finale

Really enjoyed yesterday. Highlights, JP, Titans ( really impresive display) Spitfires, Hurricanes, The Fury flying in the morning, the four fighters to finish the day and the star of the show, The magnificent Hawker Tempest Mk2  Parking great, exit great. Food? Well you know what you ge...

If coming in via the brown route are the directions to the disabled parking fairly obvious? first year going into disabled parking with my Dad and paranoid I will somehow end up in the blue car park. Shambolic access for Red on Friday. Ended up ordered into Blue, wheelchair hire In Red. Volunteers ...

Well this is a "Discuss Everything" thread, my hard hat is on, so here goes.... Tickets. I can't be the only one, in fact I know I'm not, that has been caught out by the "Early" sell out of P&V tickets. I always buy my tickets in April, without fail. Up to this year, the reas...

Re: Suggestions for upgrade from Canon "Kit" lens

My recommendation would be the Canon 15-85 f3.5 -5.6 Covers the same range as a 24-105 on the crop 80D. Had one myself for years, sharp as a tack. Loads available second hand. Still keep one in the bag for use with the creaking 70D.

Re: Your favourite mark of Spitfire

I have a particular affection for the Mk XIV, NH799, having seen it under restoration in Ardmore and later completed in Omaka, but the best and my favourite has to be a Mk IX and if I'm pushed to an individual machine then MH434 is the one.

Re: Time for a new UK military airshow?

Bit of thread creep but it's a big no thanks for a Winter Airshow. I remember the 16 and 54 Sqn disbandment ceremony at Coltishall one freezing cold day in March 2005. We had a cold wind off the North Sea, rain and the night before there was snow on the ground! Still that display and airfield attack...

Interesting view of the new hangars at 1.44. There don't appear to be any cut outs in the doors for tall fins to fit into...almost like they are being designed for aircraft with a wide wingspan and not a lot of height....almost flying wing shaped.....

My Thoughts for Wednesday to Friday. Wednesday: Occasionally slow but there were 3 years to catch up on with people not seen in ages, so it wasn't noticed that much. Minor gripe, why have they stopped using the carpark right outside the entry tent for P&V East? Carrying a whole load of tackle fr...

What do you want them to do, sit in each others' jet-wash and end up overheating their engines, resulting in anything from going tech to going quite spectacularly bang?
Fair comment but it's a wide taxiway, staggered would have been no issue, or call me daft, face the other way

Thanks Frecce for turning your engines towards the 27 Park&View. A good 15 minutes of heat, fumes and oil in the air.

Well a mixed bag today. It looked like a Civvy Bizjet meet for a while with a few Pilatexans throw in, but then the Luftwaffe Tonkas arrived....and then some!! If I'm honest, it finished up a quieter day than expected with the already noted cancellations, but nothing is confirmed until it lands etc ...
