Re: Hyakuri March 2019 - now with added sunshine!
Thanks everyone You deserve the plaudits not just for the quality and subject matter but for standing out on the peace towers in awful weather!!! Leon Thanks Leon, yeah, the first day was definitely a test, I couldn't sit anywhere in my hotel room that night for kit that was drying out! An excellent...

Re: Hyakuri March 2019 - updated
So onto flying day 2 and what a difference a day makes, greeted with wall to wall sunshine when we arrived but a bitterly cold wind. It did cloud over through the morning but cleared away again after lunch. We saw all three 501sqn paint schemes, the two 302sqn specials and a couple of normal grey bi...

Re: Hyakuri March 2019
Thanks again chaps, I've been going back through the photos from day 1 (2...) and playing about with what works and what doesn't. Sometimes it's difficult to distinguish what's "atmospheric" and what's just plain crap I guess that's why photography is such a subjective art form. Anyway, he...

Re: Hyakuri March 2019
Thank you for your kind words gents, it's given me fresh imputus to go through the rain-soaked images and process a few more before going onto the fairer weather.
In hindsight, I'm rather pleased we got to see the Phantoms in less than ideal conditions too.

Hyakuri March 2019 - now with added sunshine!
I've finally gotten around to editing some pictures from Mike and I's trip to Hyakuri last year. I've looked at these pictures so many times but just been a bit daunted about where to begin so here's the first batch from the first day (although technically the second...) and as you can see the weath...

Re: Your favourite image from 2019
My contribution comes off the back of quite a good year aviation wise but it wasn't difficult to choose my favourite. Seeing the both the 302sqn special Phantoms depart, literally as we had to start making our way back to Tokyo, is one of the best aviation moments of my life. This was also the last ...

I knew what you were getting at Chris, I just think people are getting tired of everything seemingly being politicised.

Re: Aviation and golf
There's a Piper Cherokee and Robinson R-22 that make up part of the "adventure" golf on the front in Southend, a Falklands veteran Wessex at Rednal laser-tag in Shropshire and there's several helicopters that are part of a laser-tag arena, just next to Stapleford Aerodrome. Playing through...

But that is down to NT, not some throbber with his junior hacksaw, lopping branches off trees because they're getting in his, mediocre, shots.

A special trip to Japan - Part 2 Atsugi & Iruma
Finally getting my backside in gear with sorting my photos from Japan out. First up a trip to a rather damp Atsugi, where we were the only ones (idiots) there all day, followed by a frustrating trip to Iruma, more about that later... 1) https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/48510103141_3d0ba1891d_h.jp...

Re: RIAT 2020
I've never bought into this as for years there was only P&V on Friday and show did just fine. Also they are always crowing that they can't reduce the corporate element as it brings in so much cash so why not be honest about it and make Fri a full show day with a full display and maximise the co...

Re: Football Grounds
I remember being in that end of the ground when Cambridge played Man Utd back in the early 90's. Always thought it looked a long way from the pitch when seeing it on TV but wow, I didn't realise quite how far! The same happened at Molinuex when the new North Bank was constructed.

standing at the fence with a 600mm lens blocking peoples view who are happy to just sit down and watch all day without a camera then you want to be there at 4am And what's the problem with this? If they're willing to get there at 4am then surely you can't begrudge someone that opportunity. Some peo...
