Re: RIAT 2022 Wishlist Thread
Difficult to know what will be in service then but... French KC-135, PC-21, C-130, Mirage 2000 German CH-53, Tornado, EC145, maybe C-130J by then? Poland Seasprite, Mi-2, F-16 Spain F-18, S-76 Casa 101 US C-5, KC-10, B-52, B1, some US Army helicopters Maybe a Herc from Morocco/Algeria/Tunisia/Egypt ...

Re: Wallop Wheels and Wings 2021 3/7
I looked at that and though that some people have got too much money to throw away. Lets face it most of the aircraft will be Austers, Cubs and Chipmunks, maybe with a few helicopters, nothing we have not seen before. The Gazelle event there was very good and a modest price. If you want to see vinta...

Re: RIAT 2021 Participation and Discussion Thread
It was inevitable. I hope that OW and Duxford might get in some events , and maybe something at the seaside? Any show that requires building the showground from scratch like RIAT is just not going to take the risk. OW and Duxford already have 90% of the infrastructure so fingers crossed for them.

Re: RIAT 2021 Participation and Discussion Thread
I do think RIAT need to come out and tell us when their cancelation deadline is and what current thoughts are. Personally I have already given up as I think it will be a pretty sparse event if it does go ahead.

No real suprise, I think this year will conisit of Shuttleworth, Duxford, seaside shows and a few smaller events like Gransden.

Re: RIAT 2021 Participation and Discussion Thread
Thing is with RIAT that large numbers of military personell are involved and many of those may be helping with vaccinations? I don't think RIAT will be happerning in any sort of normal way. I think the likes of Shuttleworth, Duxford and some seasinde/smaller shows will go ahead but I think any event...

Re: Desford petition
I have been waiting to see the Desford for many years , and hoped it would be soon. But some questions... So it is owned by the council why did they restore it, why not just sell it? Why not just loan it to Shuttleworth for instance. The aircraft is unique but not massivley important, and not partic...

Great to see the collection has not been massivley tinkered with since my visits (1985-2002). Nice to see a traditional museum that hasn't been taken over by pandering to the yoof! Skyraider looks lovely, nice set of photos.

Greenham common 1977 (aged 7) and Farnborough 78. Since then missed a couple of RIAT's when it went to Cottesmore (it's up north after all!). Been to many Yeoviltons, all the Farnborough's since 78, Biggin Hills of the 78-mid 90's, plus the odd Cosford. Plus events in the US and Europe.

Re: 2021 Airshows
Personally I see 2021 as being a subdued year. I can see those with fixed facilities like Old Warden and Duxford and just maybe Yeovilton and Cosford taking place in some way. I would say RIAT is 40% likely with Yeovilton/Cosford 50-50. Likely to see some smaller shows and some seaside activity. Lik...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.
Quarantine is a bit of a farce. Here is an example my wife's colleague is Spanish and took her 2 kids back to Spain in early August to her parents. Last we she went to collect them. This week she was back at work after having a negative test but not self isolating for more than around 5 days, her em...

Well Covid is the gift that just keeps giving. Not unexpectedly been told of redundancies this afternoon. In non Covid circumstances I would have been over the moon as wanted to move jobs anyway and now get a nice payout. We have basically done very little for about 5 years and Covid brings everythi...

Re: Your holiday plans
I had nothing planned this year except a semi spotting trip with the Mrs to Lincolnshire. I was to get a day round the bases while she saw friends. This was a quiet year between two big US trips so no losses for me. Still planning on Oshkosh next year but worried about my job so unlikely to book unt...

I am hoping to go in 2021 for the first time. Trouble is there is a bit of lack of income, combined with uncertainty on travel so may wait until Christmas before committing. Trouble then is accommodation, if they are rolling over this years bookings will there be any left by Christmas?

Re: Social Distance Spotting
I can report that my first post lockdown spotting trip to LHR did not end in arrest. About 5 hours at Myrtle Avenue and 20 new aircraft entered the book, sadly landing the wrong way for photos. Great to be out again.

Well last time I posted things were ok but that ended quickly. On 14/4 my dad passed away from the pneumonia as a result of the virus. Myself and my mum have probably had the virus in a mild form. So since then I have been going up to my 80yo mums twice, or so, a week to provide care and sort out my...

Re: Social Distance Spotting
On Thursday I shall be heading to LHR for some spotting. Either from Myrtle Ave or Windsor great park (if open by then). Not taking photos just want to get some numbers in the book. Two new bizjets at Farnborough today, living here does have advantages. No reason not to go spotting as long as it is ...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.
I am pretty sure I might have Covid19. My dad (aged 80) is in hospital on a CPAP machine and has tested positive, he has a 50-50 chance. On Tuesday- Wednesday I had to visit my mum as she had a fall and I picked he up off the floor. She has a temprature but otherwise is ok and is now having 24hr car...

Well my dad is not one of the infected sastitics. He is in hospital in Reading but is doing well and should be out at the end of the week? Of course he was one of those old people who continued to go out shopping. Thankfully no sign of my mum having it yet, as that probably would finish her off.

Re: Aircraft storage question.
I think crew currencey will be the biggest issue, but that just requires the waiving of rules. I could see some training sorties in the coming weeks to keep the senior pilots current so they can check others when the time comes? I guess aircraft could be left for a several weeks, I am sure the airli...

Not been a bad week, we got paid anyway . Still waiting to hear about being furloughed. My wife is working from home 4 days a week and we are still talking . Thing that has saved me this week is the weather. i love working from home in the summer with a ll the garden spotting I can do. Despite the e...
