Did anything fly past Beachy Head?
Is it likely to?

That's the lowest any other traffic can fly over the route... The Daks will be lower than that.

Re: RIAT 2018 discussion

I talked with the man from Kawasaki at ILA last month and he said they were hoping to send a C-2 to RIAT, although the details were still being worked out, so I'd say we could expect one (but maybe not three).

Eastchurch and Leysdown are said to be in Kent, but appear to be located in Berkshire...
Same with Detling, but that appears to be in Surrey...

I'm sure they aren't the only ones.

Re: Eastbourne Airshow 2017

I took a last-minute punt on Eastbourne, going up Beachy Head Sunday for the photo opportunities - and it was a total waste of time. I knew it couldn't match 2015 (Vulcan) or 2016 (Sea Vixen, although I think we only got that because of his flap problem). Although other UKAR posts showed several air...

Re: ILA 2016

There are two Skyhawks at ILA. One on the flightline and one near the Bundeswehr hall. One did fly on Monday as part of the air policing demo, replaced yesterday by a Tornado. Not sure if there's something wrong with it and if so, why they can't swap them.

It's to mark the centenary of the formation of the Lafayette Escadrile.

It takes place at Marne-La-Coquette (Hauts-de-Seine) at 11AM on 20 April, and comprises one B-52, four F-22s, a Rafale, three Mirage 2000s and "a biplane".

Re: Iruma Air Show Japan 3rd November

Thanks for this. Do you have planned participation for any of the other events in October/November? These include: Tsuiki, Gifu and Hyakuri on 25 October (which to choose?), Ozuki on 7 November and Hammamatsu on 8 November. Are there likely to be rehearsals on the day before each or any of these? Re: 2014 participants

The version I saw early today was headlined "New airspace on show!" (I kid you not) and had a large Airfix logo to the left of "Farnborough". The GR3 painting, while very nice, is from the Airfix 1/72 kit. Not sure if a Harrier in that configuration would give a very lengthy disp...

Re: Early morning AMARG overflight, sadly including the GR.9

Hi, I was considering doing this in March and I had a look at the Sonoran Wings flight school page, which says that according to the DMAFB Public Affairs Office, photo overflights have been banned "for security reasons". See: m I don't know when this came into force (no date given for the ...

At Farnborough this year, Bell/Boeing said they would be taking V-22 Ospreys to Avalon.
Other than that, I don't know. Avalon otherwise does tend to be a bit samey from year to year.

Just (in the last 10 minutes) seen a Merlin with the radar nose go around the helilane near the North Circular westbound. Are we all talking about Friday's rehearsal display? Did he cut short his Saturday show? I wasn't paying attention to that one but on Friday I was at Rhymes Farm and on about his second manoeuvre he went up into a low cloud and came down out of a lower one at a very funny angle. I wasn't sure what I...

Re: Russian Knights at the show

As far as I know, the ship had its insurance cover cancelled by its London-based insurers. Not the same as the Royal Navy or even the FCO turning it back. It just happened to be in or near UK waters when this happened. The insurers may have had some pressure from the UK (and US) governments, but not...

Re: Northolt Night Photoshoot XII - Tiffie Time

You really need to get out the card table, wind-up gramophone, bell, a few battered tea mugs and a spaniel and pose a scene with Typhoon pilots on alert 1940s-style (top button undone optional). Not sure they did night QRA like that in 1940, but it would capture the spirit.

Russian Air Force Centenary show

Hi, It would appear that there will be a big show in Moscow this August (11-12) to mark 100 years of the Russian Air Force. Great, you might say, but that is about the information that exists about it (that I can find, anyway). Two tour companies are running trips to it, but they can't agree on wher...
