Re: Question re P-51 safety belt

I've flown P51 a few times and agree with Wissam24. First strap into the Parachute then the harness which is secured to the aircraft :)

Re: What do you do with your photos?

Living North of the Border, going to Airshows is normally more costly than living elsewhere in the Uk. So my aviation photography is limited to July when I do all my aviation Photography and generate enough images (5000+) to keep me amused through to the next year (I don't go to RIAT), though if tru...

Re: Oshkosh - The Show

Sorry Alex, got it wrong, Betty Jane still alive's. This Aircraft is a new P51C restoration out of AirCorps Aviation. Its titled Lope's Hope III, highly polished but with a very dark gray/ black tail. Owned by Texas Flying Legends, so if they are going to be at OSH next year its a fair bet this will...

@Alex C, thanks it was special, we did 3 ship, low level at Appleton then Aero's on the way back to Oshkosh. Booked for next year, got a good rate with the airfare so hoping that Collings will bring their P51C model "Lee's Hope"........ :)

Re: Oshkosh 2018

I volunteer at Oshkosh every year and travel from the UK. Getting there is easy, Into O'hare and its a 3 hr drive due north. For beginners , staying at the Dorms is good and provides secure accommodation, the disadvantage is that is off the airfield. Aviation activities for me start at 5.30am and go...

Re: Ten from Oshkosh Updated 20 Aug

Being one person who advised Wallace on his trip one option is to camp at Camp Scholler. Buy a tent at Walmart and campout with everyone else. I find that I start on the ramp at 5.30am and walk (shuffle) off at around 8.30pm. There is always something happening after 8.30 which a lot of folk miss.

As a potential first timer to Nellis, any hints tips on the show and where the best place would be to photograph the flying display from within the field?

Re: Luftwaffen Museum

All, I found myself at the Luftwaffen Museum in April and had no real issues getting there. For me, the best way is get the S-Bahn to Spandau Rathaus, 30 mins from Freidrichstrasse Hauptbanhof. From the Rathaus, the 135 bus in direction of Kladow. 20 minutes, get off at Kupromade, the bus has a scre...

Re: Where are you going to watch departures from?

I'm a volunteer in P&V at RIAT. If you choose to use P&V you have two options, each has it's own merits. In P&V East it is the most popular area, and I would agree that space at the fence is at a premium. Having said that the Management are always looking for ways to increase the frontli...

RIAT Photobus Feedback Please

Hi, I've been asked by the RIAT Management to collate feedback on the Photobus operation at RIAT 2010. I'm looking for the good, the bad and anything that could be done to improve the Photobus for next year. No guarantee's (yet!) that all improvements will be taken up but they will be reviewed accor...

Re: Photobus Tours (including North Side)

Last year, I worked as an escort for a while on the southside photobuses. To be honest it's probably worth the £4 for the high(er) level shots of the a/c in the static park. If the route this year is the same as last year (read into this as you wish!) then the bus leaves P&V East, follows the pe...

Re: FRIAT's Clive Parnell

I don't know what to say really, I knew Clive very well during his time at RIAT. He was an immense support when things were going wrong and never had a bad word for anyone. Much of the fun and hilarity among the RIAT staff in FRIAT was normally generated by him. Those who knew him understood his par...
