Re: "...A little "peed off" at Red Flag spotters..."

Who can really say he is ONLY earning money with reports from RED FLAG or such missions? I think this a real minority, beeing journalist as occupation... I wonder if the TO really is journalist as he stated, or not only just enthusiast like us who publish articles from time to time! If he is the guy...

Re: Rick Wright RIP

I hope you do not think I am impolite, but who can say he had the life he had? If I would have to choose between 65 years of big fun and action and 85 years of bored life I would know what to choose... RIP Rick!

Re: Which scanner - suggestions please

BTW: Is it allowed to listen to airband in the UK? The scanner also can listen to police, fire brigade... IMHO (Frequency range: 25 - 1300MHz), in austria this scanner would be forbidden. Is this same in UK?

First of all, what do you mean? A radio scanner or a film scanner for slides and such stuff? Or a flat bed scanner? :)

Re: Canon100-400L v Canon400L

It depends what you want it for. Why not keep the 100-400 and get a 400 and second body?? I have a 100-400 but have hardly used it since I got the 300 2.8 with a 1.4 and 2x convertor I was very glad with my Volkswagen, but since I have my Ferrari I hardly use the Volkswagen! We understand you Geoff...

Re: Sony A900

Nice body (nice to edit 24MP-Raws ), but which lense you want to put on it? Sony/Minolta does not have a lense "park", their lense park even does not exist. The 300mm 2.8 has no IS for 7000 Euro... There is no 200mm 2.8, no 400mm, no 500mm, no 600mm... If you buy a Sony body you are locked...

Ebay? :D I bought mine via ebay, but I have sold it to a friend, as I did use it TWICE a year. I had a 430EX, the 430EX II is in stock now. I would think about wether you really need a flash. I paid 40 Euro for knowing it now!

Re: Canon100-400L v Canon400L

How can the second shot be a 100% crop, if the first is not already a crop? The size of the first would be already too small if the second should be a 100% crop? (Hope you understand what I mean :ninja: )

Very cool shots, the afterburners look awesome. The last one is a little miracle to me. 700mm, 1/20 and a sharp jet... Photoshoped?

Re: Canon with IS

The pictures were taken in mode 2, I dont know why but I tend to shoot single shots rather than a batch, maybe I cant get it into my thick head its DIGITAL now and not limited to 36 pics I would never do panning shots as single shots. There is always possibility to get some unsharp shots. As you wr...

Magazine about airshows

I am no serial spotter, so not interested in numbers! I am searching for magazine showing reports of airshows al...

Re: Canon with IS

The pictures look quite ok, did you use Setting 1 or Setting 2 of the IS ? Also the IS does not secure you from having unsharp shots, it is only an advantage... And the IS needs some time to stabalize, so just keep the button down and take the picture then! If you make a row of pictures there are li...

RTFM. First. Take pictures of anything you like, making you familiar with camera and settings. There are no common tips for taking pictures I would say.

Re: Alternatives to the canon 18-55mm

Yep, the 24-105 is a great lense, I own one myself. For wideangle I bought me a 20mm 2.8 prime of canon. If you cannot afford the canon I would not buy the 17-85 IS USM. It is plastic built, a "slow lense", F4.0-5.6 is not really cool. The IS is nice, but 2.8 beats every IS. It isn't worth...
