Re: Edinburgh Trams,,,what a farce!

I am a coach driver and ashamed to tell passengers touring Edinburgh why parts of the Athens of the North have looked like down town Kabul for the past three years. Now massive chunks of the upheaval have been for nothing, zero, zilch. I am even more ashamed when passing the latest carnage on the A9...

Re: The UK Airshow Scene.

Fast jets and military hardware was much more diverse and displayed in a much more exciting fashion in the 60s and 70s. Mass lightning take off and climb out at Leuchars and the vulcan scrambles were impressive and reassuring in an age where there was a real threat to the country from the soviet blo...

Re: Dam Busters re-make

And no doubt Guy Gibson will have to be renamed "Chuck" because Guy is too like Gay and we don't want to offend them either. Probably the Lancs will have US Army Air Corps markings to further please the US audience and they will bye pass the dams so as not to upset the Germans but heroical...

Re: Future of RIAT?

I am afraid I have never been to RIAT since they abandoned ticket sales at the gate. My work patterns do not permit me to book any more than a few days ahead. I am more than willing to pay a premium for at the gate tickets but I object to paying for tickets in advance that I might not be able to use...

Re: SAAB

I was interested to learn that SAAB have been making military aircraft for many years, and there's me thinking they only make cars! Their involvement in aircraft is longer than in cars. The meaning of SAAB is Svenska Aeroplane AB which translates in English as Swedish Aircraft Ltd. BTW. since this ...

Re: British Airways Cabin Crew - Gone Mad???

If BA was in profit I would back the union's right to use withdrawal of labour to put pressure on management to improve or maintain the pay and benefits of their members. But BA is making massive losses. Strikes will lead to bigger losses. The airline will go under. Assets will be bought by another ...

Re: Passenger tries to blow up Delta Airbus!

I think there is a point being missed about profiling. There are many terrorist groups who might resort to blowing up a plane and all have to be guarded against. There are however only a few willing to blow up themselves along with the plane. The flight might be full of terrorists transporting bombs...

Re: The Gospel According to Mancus

In my pre retirement days I used to receive letters like this from people complaining about staff I was responsible for. They were usually written in green ink in very tight spacing using every inch of available space on the paper, often with amendments written at odd angles on the edges of the pape...

Re: Launch of "XH558 Press Office"

The Scottish Government is reported to be willing to donate £17.5 million to help buy a painting from a wealthy duke. There is no real connection between Scottish aviation and the Vulcan but it gives the lie to the line that governments can't be expected to help out in these hard times. What does th...
