Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.
The figure being given for the new variant is that it's 70% more transmissable. I'm not quite sure what this means; is it: That the droplets are lighter and therefore travel further? That it's become more aerosol based and is therefore more airborne? That it's developed to live longer on surfaces, ...

Re: Presidential Election 2020
Very sad scenes. To paraphrase an old saying: “Never underestimate the power of a democratically elected lunatic with access to Twitter”. Not for at least next twelve hours.... Twitter finally taking steps. Wonder what's likely to be causing Trump the most upset just now - losing the Presidency or ...

People often note the suicide risk and mental health impacts of lockdowns, and I’ve come across an interesting study from LSE just before Christmas: https://blogs.lse.ac.uk/politicsandpolicy/first-lockdown-wellbeing/ ...things were significantly better for low socioeconomic status men, whose overal...

one thing i found interesting today is ministers are only now discussing the notion of travellers having to prove a negative test to enter the UK.... i mean surely that is one of the things you do at the beginning right and not nearly a year into a pandemic? or are they going to cynically spin it a...

Very sorry to hear this. Brands Hatch on a Sunday morning, 9.59 am, bacon roll in hand, then a crackle on the PA system followed by Brian’s dulcet tones ... and a racing engine fires up in the pits; happy memories.

I can understand (but don’t agree with) why someone would breach COVID regulations to go out and buy food, I can understand why someone would breach them to to see a loved one, I sort of get why a group of young people will breach them to hold a rave, but I’m really struggling with this one ... http...

Re: What Aviation Stuff did Santa Airdrop this year?
Same as every year; nothing. My friends and family all agreed some time ago that Christmas and birthday cards and presents are a waste of money and time. We don't need them to know that we value each other. We agreed that a while back too. I don’t need presents from my family and friends to know ho...

I dont understand all the fuss with the schools - keep them closed school the kids from home for the immediate future till the gov are happy, pay the teachers a full wage to carry on teaching from home. I bet if you asked I bet more than half the kids would rather be at home than at school anyway. ...

My apologies for repeating the misquoted/misinterpreted WHO guidance in an earlier post when I said the WHO had said lockdowns don’t work. They didn’t say that - what they did say was they shouldn’t be used as a primary means of controlling COVID and that governments should adopt a multi-faceted app...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.
The scientists would ideally have the whole country locked down until the vaccine is rolled out. When as a country did we become so risk averse that we willingly give up our liberties and want the government to decide who we see, who we can meet with, and who we can have in our very own houses, rat...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.
ItR has every right to be concerned about the vaccine if he has an underlying medical condition. In my view it’s best, though, that he takes advice from his medical professional when weighing up the risk of having or not having the vaccine. Seeking out medical reports and research on-line isn’t the ...

Re: Edward Colston statue removal, your views.
Its a big issue in present day that the media and many parts of the establishment take over a campaign when often it's either nothing to do with them or they misinterpret the aims and become a distraction. But they have so much more influence than indivividual protestors. We have seen this week ind...

This is why I said that the government really need to come out with a clear and decent messaging campaign....

I haven’t been a regular airshow attendee for some years, but keep my hand in helping out with aircraft preservation. My first show was the Biggin Hill Battle of Britain Day in 1968. I don’t remember much about it apart from that the first aircraft I saw on arrival in the static was a Handley Page H...
