Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

Yet more garbage from SAGE this morning. They’re saying we should be mindful of the type of music we play at home over Christmas, avoiding anything that could encourage people to dance together or cause other forms of close physical contact. Popular music is discouraged and instead they are advisin...

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Professor Gabriel Scally, a public health expert at Bristol University, today slammed the proposals, warning there was 'no point' in having a very merry Christmas only to 'then bury friends and relations in January and February'. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/new...

Re: F1 ( and other motorsports ) 2020

I think that was the worst accident I have ever seen in F1, and it actually gets scarier and scarier the more you see it - just watching some clips online now and without the rolling footage and commentary of a live broadcast to keep your mind occupied, it just gets worse on every viewing. A miracl...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

It seems fairly certain that Covid was in the country well before March and was well spread thoughout the country, this wasn't the case in NZ. Once it has spread (and I believe it was well spread in January), there is no stopping it short of locking everyone in their homes, which fortunately isn't ...

From the Evening Standard website today:

London protests: Santa among 155 arrests as anti-lockdown demonstrators march on capital

Is this really what this country’s come to and, more importantly, who’s looking after the reindeer?

Question is, are they more concerned about restrictions to the vertical or horizontal dancing?
Both it would seem. Me and the missus are planning some doggy style to the tune of Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending.

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

I see the ‘experts’ at SAGE are busy giving more advice on how we can have a safe Christmas. Not content with us not hugging granny, they say we should also avoid the face-to-face proximity of board games and have a family quiz instead. Perhaps we should also have Christmas dinner facing away from e...

The last of the standard scheme jets leaves Cardiff tomorrow for Saint Athan. Just BOAC and Landor left after that. There’s currently a campaign to save Landor (https://www.facebook.com/groups/743394759603291/?ref=share) , launched earlier this week, some people are approaching numerous airports (I...

Has this morphed into the Great Reset thread? Anyway somewhere, sometime (not in a galaxy far, far away) the question was raised about how come Covid vaccines have been developed so quickly: the following explains much. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-55041371 Excellent article, although they’ll ...

ItR, you’re right. Many are suggesting that the constant bad news has led to damaged mental health and therefore the need for self-rationing of what you watch or listen to. That’s a bit where I am at the moment. I also treat anything and everything I hear from the so-called experts with a large dos...

Re: Great Reset.

I'd be more worried about the tooth fairy being a super spreader than Santa. But children are, apparently, less likely to be spreaders and I am sure he wears gloves and a mask anyway. On the other hand I suppose having a fairy fiddling around under your pillow while your head is on it is less likel...

What is "Great Reset" I have seen the saying mentioned a few time in different places from newspapers some advertising outside and in solcial media - what is being given a Great Reset and reset to what? Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

So no great difference then! I was thinking it would have been interesting what any lockdown would have been like. Working from home wouldn’t have been the widespread option it has been, so office-based workers would have had to carry on with the daily commute. No on-line ordering, no Zoom or social...

Talking of statistics! Look East had a report this evening, which I half listened to, that Herts CC had completed a survey as to where people where catching the virus; I don't know the timescale but these figures (give or take) came out of it. 30% while shopping 10% in hospital 10% socialising 5% g...

Quite a striking poll: https://twitter.com/yougov/status/1329475145749180416?s=21 I thought a hell of a lot more would be happy to sacrifice further lockdown for a day of Christmas get together. The trouble with a question like that is that people look at what their ‘requirement’ for freedom is ove...

Re: 2021 Airshows

I’d be surprised if there’s any meaningful sort of airshow season in 2021 and I think we should be prepared to accept that the airshow ‘scene’ as we know it will never come back. I think we have seen our last RIAT and aside from shows at Duxford and Shuttleworth, I don’t see many others - big or sm...
