Re: Newark Museum makes it into Viz Magazine
But at least the description is correct certainly in the latter case it's utter pants! Rattle Strike LOL. Talk about dramatic names, a bit like Ramex Delta, East Coast demo team, Zeus etc. to try and grab attention.

Re: Newark Museum makes it into Viz Magazine
No problem Andy it ends.............were basically peppers with rice in. However I misheard and served peppers with Ricin. Fortunately the guests who survived all saw the funny side, particularly as I had burnt the peppers anyway.

Re: NATO DAYS 2015 - 19 & 20 September
Looks like you agree with me!! I certainly agree with all you say. I stayed in Pribor 9kms south and as soon as I passed the highway junction it was stationary traffic. There were still people coming in as I left at 1430 strangely, and an equal amount leaving. I'd rather they charged 5euros and free...

Re: NATO DAYS 2015 - 19 & 20 September
Thankfully the decision to cycle in made this a semi-bearable day. Ridiculous entrance system for cars meaning it was backed up to my hotel about 9km away! But it gets worse - there was then a queue to park the push bike!! It beggars belief this 'NATO Days' as I have made the point before. Ticket sy...

Re: NATO DAYS 2015 - 19 & 20 September
Hiya. All along the south by the railway is the main access road, in blue on the map. I was just going to stop along there somewhere on the bike. So due west of village of Mosnov almost alongside the southern apron. But the display line marked on the map I assume is where the aircraft align with but...

Learnt nothing if I'm honest. I wonder what would happen with 10 targets at 20 min intervals heading in different directions?

Found the Harriers at last, looks like 58 with mostly intact fuselages still. Wings on the right by the orange containers and the fuselages in the white covers.

Re: NATO DAYS 2015 - 19 & 20 September
Im going to stay 6km away and cycle in. When I say in I think I'll stay outside to the south so the sun behind and under the display line which I see is at 90deg to the runway.

Re: BA aircraft on fire at Las Vegas
Definition of doing a good job - closing throttles, applying brakes, ordering evacuation all under rising heart rate. Definition of hero - the above followed by running through fire to rescue someone (without their hand luggage). Or landing the thing whilst on fire with some of the systems unavailab...

Re: BA aircraft on fire at Las Vegas
Bringing an aircraft to a halt well before V1, making a radio call 'we are evacuating, request emergency services', and announcing to the cabin crew to evacuate (which perhaps the co-pilot did) is not heroic stuff. In fact the captain might have been the PNF and it was all the co pilot! But regardle...

Re: BA aircraft on fire at Las Vegas
I see the pilot is being described as a hero, really? Had he landed it on fire, one engine, no flaps operational and a hole getting bigger by the moment then yes. Sullenberg stuff - yes. Ordering an evacuation before take off and requesting the fire service over the radio then no I'm sorry, all this...

Re: September 20th Battle of Britain Flypast Cancelled
Struggling a bit aren't we. War time over Europe with new engines against 70 years later peace time with evidence of unreliability and unnecessary risk taking. Total silence on WHY insurance costs have gone up. And comparison between Hawk jet engines (which aren't 40 years old of course) versus 70 y...

Re: September 20th Battle of Britain Flypast Cancelled
What difference does the age of the aircraft make? You sound like the Daily Mail... Judging by recent events - lots. You do watch news and keep up with aviation events don't you? Who needs the AAIB when we've got you, eh? Go on dig yourself deeper. Did I come up with a reason for the crash (the AAI...

Re: September 20th Battle of Britain Flypast Cancelled
A fly past of 20 ancient single engined aircraft over a densly populated city must never happen. How many engine problems have we seen in recent years with these aircraft. Not to mention just what happened in Kent today. Outrageous that anything like this should ever happen, over an airfield yes, a...

[ I heard that Radom organizers were sending invitation way too late for anything from UK to participate, but still, in the BoB 75th anniversary year they could have just tried a bit harder and make it;) Definitely not the case, invites went out months ago for MOD consideration. The reason I'm sure...

F15s and B52 from US. Uk is 2 Hawks which will fly by at start, then later in the day. Obviously just a circuit or 2 as they are not display pilots. Will look rather plain if they do that right after a display team.
