Re: NATO DAYS Ostrava 2016

Can I make the sensible suggestion that people take the currency of the country they are visiting. You wouldn't take Australian $ to the US for crying out aloud.

Re: NATO DAYS Ostrava 2016

The Czechs along with Poland and Hungary don't want the Euro, sensible people like Britain. I cycled last year from 30 minutes out given the ghastly chaos of this event. Be prepared to be packed into the small static area. Or watch from outside by the threshold.

Mostly replaced b Phantoms I think. It was the fires and hydraulic failures that gave it terrible service. The books written about have some awful stories.

UK Lightning airborne again

Surely illegal fly past of Samlesbury yesterday. No photoshopping whatsoever, 100%. Was it out of Bruntingthorpe?

Re: Feedback for RIAT 2016. The good, the bad and....the Ugl

Jesus some of the moaning, do any of you precious photographers and your 6000 snaps ever look back at them? In fact do you ever see an airshow live and apreciate it rather than life through a viewfinder and immediately look at screen to see the shot you just took 0.5 seconds ago. Pathetic. Worst par...

As usual I stayed near the east end for £13/night with showers, on site catering and pub nearby. And laughed at those who still think the world ends at Kempsford.

Re: UK Military Training Renewal

We had over 200 Jet Provosts in the 80s. Then over 100 Tucanos in the 90s. How just 10 Texans (it would be 7 max at any one stage available because of maintenance) is incredible. Although perhaps the plan is as one lands it goes off again withing an hour with another instructor and student and doesn...

Re: Flying Legends & the Naughty Field(s)

If I were to get airborne at an airshow (including Duxford) and find that the fields under the display area were full of people, or even containing a fair few people, I would turn downwind and land. Or divert. Why? In order to, potentially, protect the lives of the aforementioned people, my life an...

I hate relying on public transport. Which is why the week before when I'm in Belgium for the graspop metal meeting I'm taking folding bromptons. Far better cycle hammered along the canals than try and get a taxi or whatever.

Re: Tiffie double tyre blow-out

You'll find traveller in the dictionary, unlike wokka and tiffy. It describes a person who regularly travels to see the world. That's me. Highly successful, financially affluent, well travelled and experienced in global affairs, in fact highly thought of by my peers. Jag and Herc are merely abbrevia...

Looks like it will happen, they are just organising the detail before publishing the access map. It says train+shuttle though so is there a train station at Charleroi airport? If not I cant be bothered going into the city to get a bus out and will just drive if so. And the bus will have a priority r...

What is it with childish names. Tiffie (or is it Tiffy), Dave, Wokka, Tonka. Pathetic and tragic.
