I doubt they'd even think about it. Did the Germans get upset about the Typhoon in the Battle of Britain colours?

Re: So, should they have scrapped Nimrod?

Personally, I think you do need 4 engines for maritime patrol. Take this scenario. Tracking a sub out over the north sea and you get an engine failure. Realistically, a twin will have to return to base immediately, giving time for the enemy to escape while the replacement aircraft is en route. A 4 e...

Anyone miss the statement on the previous page they're keeping an amount of Hercules into the 2030s? That's either an admission the A400M can't do what the Herc does, or they're not buying enough. I think they have just come to there senses (for once) and realised just how valuable the Hercules is!...

seeing the Mitsubishi MRJ and the new Chinese airliner begs the question are all airliners destined to be two underwing engines forever or can we expect some radical designs sometime in the future. On a related subject is there an explanation why rear engines became so popular so quickly (passenger...

Same weekend as RIAT then.... Bugger It's really is the height of stupidity to plan to run these two shows on the same weekend. I cannot comprehend how anyone could consider it a good idea. There can't be any gain to either event, in fact there must be some degree of loss of punters to both. I can ...

Re: Battle of Britain Day Commemoration at Goodwood

Brilliant day out, would have happily paid 10-15 quid for it. Got there at 9.40, parked up no problem. Hung about at the end of 24 and the sun finally came out and it was hot! Pretty much nonstop action from 1400 to 1440, then on and off till about 1600. Back to the car at 1625, free and clear at 16...

With regards to stuff being too technical like the phantom & buccaneers etc would it not be possible to strip a lot of the "technical" stuff out that's not needed these days so you are left with a airframe with just the essentials needed to make certification by the CAA easier? Proble...

Bit late, but a few from Dunsfold last weekend, not the best of conditions but you can only go with what you've got. https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/10445474_10207159955344650_2318580898746029000_n.jpg?oh=68d23caf91bdf9753e576c0f56dea802&oe=567D9F6B https://scontent-lh...

Had a brilliant day at Dunsfold today, although a little soggy! All the flying was top notch, highlights being the Typhoon, Vulcan, Mig-15 and the OFMC Pair. Started raining at about 4, but it still stayed quite bright and the cloud base stayed high (airliners from Gatwick were visible all day). Eve...

Hi all. Whats everyone's opinions on this show? I'm trying to justify travelling from Sheffield to catch the BoB Synchro pair (who don't appear to be visiting Duxford in September)....the Vulcan and Arrows are the icing on the cake. Cheers. Brevet I suspect that the crowd/ demand may well be down next year with no 'Vulcan effect'. After the Vulcan and the Reds had displayed about 25-30% of the people near me in the Blue sector of the crowd packed up and left straight away. Pretty much every year the reds are on at about 3 o'clock, and...

Just got back, bit sun burnt but great day. Came in on the red route, about a 10 min delay getting in, all parked up by 7.20. Flying was fantastic highlights for me being Ramex, Osprey and Zeus (personally thought it was very well flown after a great take off). The BoB tribute was well thought out, ...

Bit too far in advance, but we are now getting a general idea of the weather (I.E no idea at all!). I would personal like clear blue skies and light winds all day, but as long as I don't get wet and wind and cloud base allows everything to fly, I'll be very happy

Really enjoyed the day, arrived at about 9 after a short queue to get in, chair setup on the flight line at 9.30. Static was very good, much more varied than last year. Flying was superb, highlights being the Sea Vixen, Huey, French Role Demo, the Vulcan (Lots of howls!) and of course, the Commando ...

Really good update today, just one heavy makes all that difference. As for the 'operational' spits, I think that the Biggin Hill spitfires are also used for 'Fly with a Spitfire' experiences, so that may be the reason for that

R.E. The cost of a ticket, you've got to remember that the other big shows (cosford, yeovilton, waddo) are run by the armed forces, and therefore have ATC, aircraft movement teams and others to run the show, and therefore free for the show. How much of this does RIAT have to pay for? I always buy an...

Re: Zoom lens advice for RIAT

I used the canon 70-300 is usm lens coupled to a 550 and later, a 70d for a few years. Lens can be picked up new in your price range. It always took good quality photos, the only times the 300mm was a bit short was for warbird solo's. For the money though, it's a brilliant lens.
