They probably had plenty in stock but will wait until trading hours finish before restocking the shelves.
My point was panic buying has started again already

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.
So France and Germany have gone back to their original lockdown measures with the exception of schools remaining open; Macron said the French lockdown would remain in place for a month after which if new cases had not gone to about 5000 / day they would probably continue through Christmas, so no pre...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.
It is normal for anti-bodies to decline. You're not going to produce them if you're not infected. Your memory B cells should be able to trigger a response to the virus (along with T cells) if you are re-infected. TBH there are not a lot of human antibody tests that are generally used; I think measl...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.
It’s looking like immunity doesn’t last too long, however, meaning jabs will be needed twice per year. Small price to pay, though. it's actually just the antibody that's been shown to decline in PCR tested positive patients. T cells are probably a more important factor in viral immunity. Jabs for 7...

From the Grauniad; France should get ready for “difficult decisions” on new measures to tackle the resurgence of covid cases, the interior minister, Gérald Darmanin, has said ahead of a cabinet meeting to discuss the pandemic. French authorities are looking at options for still tighter measures to f...

it's a different type of virus to influenza, which is why there is no vaccine yet as we haven't needed one for the previous 3 coronaviruses

Complete chaos on the A281 with cars illegally parked all along making it very dangerous for those who parked safely elsewhere and walked to the approach :unamused: AFAICT it came straight in not via LGW; did a low pass then went back round for a landing, awesome sight! 1st pass http://www.fotothing...

Re: BA retires entire Boeing 747 fleet
Looking at the OS map there are less than 2 sq km between the runway and the former canal (which is slowly being restored) so not a lot of room There's not a lot of viable land North of the airfield either because of a fairly large farm (on a hill) so I imagine the whole site will be flattened As p...

I have a friend on the Isle of Man where they have also gone for the NZ (and also Guernsey) approach with all domestic cases down to zero and life carries on as (old) normal. Anyone caught breaking quarantine after coming onto the island is sent to a local hotel to self isolate for 6 weeks (not 14 d...

1330 tomorrow according to the latest Tweet (is that GMT or BST?)
Someone asked if it was going to do a flypast at LGW but as they (AFAIK) never flew from there I think unlikely, plus BA have already said their goodbyes

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.
Local lockdowns are not a UK only idea; France Portugal and Spain have been trying them without much luck; also they are not hard enough (Leicester is coming out of local lockdown, has the spread gone down in that area since?) I'll give it 6 months and if there is no vaccine it will just be allowed ...

Re: BA retires entire Boeing 747 fleet
Not great viewing potential from what i remember of the area around Dunsfold. I'd imagine trying to get a view of it coming in could be quite tricky. assuming from the East probably just by the A281 although that involves parking and walking up; I know that access to the old canal towpath there is ...

Re: BA retires entire Boeing 747 fleet
Unless it's been shelved there is a proposal to turn all of Dunsfold into a new village (whatever a village constitutes in terms of 1000s of houses) complete with a canal basin so it won't be a permanent home
but thanks for the heads-up I'll try to see it!

I think the Welsh measures are also aimed at keeping English visitors (many from tier 3 areas) out over half term, the website make it very clear that it doesn't just affect residents it's anyone in the country during the period

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.
yes; most bacteria that enter the digestive system stay there most are friendly and required as part of general digestion (symbiosis, happens all over the animal / plant kingdoms) but some can still wreak havoc. Viruses can also have the same effect but generally can't get into the rest of the body ...

Firstly excuse my rusty haematology knowledge but Human immunity is generally governed by 2 white blood cell mechanisms; (this is different to a 3rd process phagocytosis which is what granulocytes- also white blood cells- do which is to attack the infection directly and is not really immunity; for e...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.
The virus's sole function is to spread; it has no compassion and doesn't even know or care who or what it's infecting. it's not really a living thing as it only exists and reproduces within another animal's own cells which is why i find it odd that those in power can suggest it's not being spread by...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.
One thing's for sure. Covid-19 is an extremely successful virus, it spreads like wildfire without killing many of those infected (or even taking them out of circulation through illness, so they can continue to spread it)
