Thanks everyone - in some ways it was an easy decision, in others not.

Shocked. Stunned. Steve was a good friend - always ready for a chat, a laugh, taking it all in his stride. I'll miss him. Words are not enough.

Re: RAF displays in 2009

Much of it has to do with the change in accounting method by the MoD to 'resource based accounting' - this means that the beancounters know the cost of everything, but not its true value. No doubt finance of the role demo was an issue, although in reality the crews, aircraft were already 'paid for' ...

"XL231 'Lusty Lindy' is the only complete example of the distinctive HP Victor remaining in the world and is kept in ground operational condition, by the hard work and enthusiasm of Andre and his team, with the museum's support. Only one other Victor is still capable of running, but is not comp...

Re: Ex U.S.A.F. bases

Defence Estates still own Upper Heyford and Alconbury, but not Bentwaters. There is a development proposal for Alconbury m that resurrects old ideas for the site, and the annex occupied by the USAF is due for wind-down by 2017 according to DE's strategy documents. Any expansion of USAFE is likely to...

Re: 2009 French grand Prix cancelled.

Further evidence of Bernie's desire to go where the money is, and ignore heritage, tradition and what the sport ...
