Re: Flying Proms 2019
Thanks for the well written review. I did wonder about the interval pyrotechnics so thanks for shedding some light on that. As fun as Mark Jefferies is to watch doing his amazing thing, he seemed to be missing quite a few fireworks compared to the previous year and I was holding out for the second p...

Re: Daks Over Normandy - June 2019
I've no issue with the timing, it's the fact that a mass formation was advertised. As it was, the single file procession was already mentioned earlier in the day when the VVIP delay was announced as pushing back the departure to gone 3pm. We were all staring down the airfield at that time in disbeli...

Re: Daks Over Normandy - June 2019
Can I ask where the impression came from that the departures on Wednesday would feature a mass flypast at Duxford? I read the timetable and didn't notice anything saying that might be the case. Here: m 5 June 2019 * IWM Duxford gates open 10am * 10am-6pm Large WW2 airborne exhibition (AirSpace Cons...

Re: New equipment.
Keep an eye on Amazon UK and Amazon US for genuine Sony XQD cards (only the ones sold by Amazon directly, not the marketplace sellers). I've just picked up a 64GB card for £128 delivered from the US including all import fees. Now sitting at around £133 but still way cheaper than a bricks and mortar ...

You can buy used with confidence from a place like MPB:
https://www.mpb.com/en-uk/used-equipmen ... ku-809600/
You don't even need an "Excellent" condition example, just a "Good" one is fine.

Why not just buy a good used example of the AF-S?

Re: Recommend older but still good kit for a beginner sub £4
This is currently my second shooter combo for airshows alongside my D610/200-500mm.
Nikon D7000 - £204:

Nikon 70-300 AF-S VR - £184:
https://www.mpb.com/en-uk/used-equipmen ... ku-776003/
Stretch a bit more to the D7100 and you'll go from 16MP to 24MP which will allow you to crop better and preserve the quality.

Re: IMPORTANT - Future of UKAR
Hello, I'd just like to thank the team for all of their continuing efforts as one of the quiet majority who tends to read around specific airshow subforums which I will be attending. In reality that's likely to only be 1-2 shows a year with RIAT every 2-3 years I follow similar principles to a previ...

Shuttleworth Flying Proms 2018
Lovely enjoyable evening as this is my local. Shame about the cloud but I'd already had my fix of airborne photography from the season premiere and RIAT this year (also on my Flickr). It was just nice to relax and enjoy the music, the wonderful vocals from Annette Wardell and the pyrotechnics https:...

Re: Nikon D500 Question
I've found that the biggest difference for me with the 200-500 is how much you have to turn the zoom ring to move across the range if you're trying to catch a plane coming towards you. It gets quite tiring after a while so I've started leaving it at the long end instead. I'm shooting with a 200-500 ...
