Re: Shackleton WR963 - [Official Topic]

Apologies for the slight gap in updates on our project, Christmas and other distractions etc I'm afraid Well I had better start where things left off when we had our successful Dusk Run back in December! The event was well attended and almost went to plan completely apart from a couple of 'tech' iss...

That old girl is not as doomed as some would believe.

Our trust is in contact with the owner and there are plans for this airframe which are ongoing but at the owners request are not being made public.

Is there any significant reason why the inner port props are tipped differently to the others? :dunno:

Re: Sub Hunter Dusk Run Coventry 5th December!

Thank you! We did check the generator out before the run, but we think there were issues having swapped over some of the lights which we could then do nothing about once we started 963 up.... The engine run went on for our aimed 25 minutes or so, as we allowed them all to warm up fully before openin...

STOP PRESS! Haynes will be onsite on the 5th for the book signing of the Shackleton Manual! These will be signed by the author Keith Wilson and possibly ex Shackleton air and ground crews, also the current crew of 963 if requested! This is a never to be repeated chance to get one of these books! htt...

Re: Sub Hunter Dusk Run Coventry 5th December!

Hi Nwalch, Well we open up the site at 1pm so that visitors can have a good look around onboard both aircraft. At some point the crews will get both aircraft ready for their moment of truth, and once Fire Cover is in position, it's looking like around 3:30 - 4:00 when dusk falls which will signal th...

Re: Gannet invited to Farnborough

I was aware of the Canadian Lanc situation, and as yet I have no idea on the legaility of the Gannet's possibilities to do the same - hence my "don't think so" bit I was just looking at the legality of flying first and foremost - it would be nice to know if a PAX flight could be possible b...

Re: Gannet invited to Farnborough

US registered aircraft flying in the Experimental catergory - can fly in UK with CAA airspace permissions only for each flight.

It can be done quite legally, but as for passenger flights I don't think so?

Well the website has been taking a hammering overnight, so are we staging an event you all want to come along to I wonder? Long Marston is somewhat different from the posted photo. The Shackleton is actually not 'rotting away' as many assume from the external appearance. Suffice to say the Shackleton Preservation Trust are fully aware of the future for this airframe, and are indeed in touch with the owner! It has come u...
