I can recommend the kebab shop My grill on long drive just east of the base, the chippy next door - not so much

Re: Capture One Express (for Sony)

Capture One is excellent, well worth getting a free cut down Express version as periodically the do an offer to upgrade to Pro for a bargain price. Pro has everything you could ever need and is acknowledged by many as having the best process engine. It need's a fast machine with plenty of RAM to get...

The dark side of Air 14 - Now with added Saturday!

One of the many highlights of Air 14 at Payerne last weekend was a test flight by the solar powered Solar Impulse 2 HB-SIB on Saturday evening. Brought out of it's hangar and prepared for flight to the accompaniment of Pink Floyd's Dark side of the Moon played by a passable cover band. The aircraft ...

Glasgow Saturday 31 May

My first visit to Glasgow Airport since returning to the hobby found a much quieter place than in its heyday in the eighties when I was a regular. Some friendly locals kindly guided me round some of the best spots and a pleasant half day was had. Traffic is much lighter than Edinburgh but for me the...

JW, Lossie Monday & Tuesday.

Having had to scrub the whole of last week due to the weather, Lucy and I spent Monday and Tuesday up at Lossie for JW. We adopted the high risk strategy of moving around the base to vary the style of shot and it mostly payed off with only a couple of wrong place, wrong time moments. Wind was the on...

Re: Edinburgh Rugby 070314

Excellent shots and a great selection! Really need to get myself up to Edinburgh some time, the shots from there do look very good. Best to come up during the "summer" as there are a much larger range of routes operating and an excellent late afternoon/evening raised vantage point at the ...

Edinburgh Rugby 070314

I'll compound being a week and a half late with these by posting them in the Norwich section. Two weekends ago it was France's turn to beat Scotland in the Six Nations Rugby and Friday 7th March saw an influx of charter flights to Edinburgh giving us a bit of variation from the usual Easyjets and Ry...

Re: Sun, Moon and aircraft photography

You could try this one : m It's free and you can type in your location (LHR) and fast forward to see which days the sun will rise/set on the runway bearing- it gives you times and bearings. For the moon, a quick google search will get you the dates for full moons then you can check the bearing and t...

Stunning variety again Mark. I only managed one very brief and unproductive trip up this year but once again you've put Aberdeen back up at the top of my list for this coming year. The AN-12 and flying ATP are definite "wants". Has the spotters enclosure re-opened?

Re: Some random oldies 1979 to 1983

Great set that brings back many memories. It was very cold the week the Singapore Herc was there waiting for some F-5's on delivery, despite going over most days I still managed to miss them. The Hill F-16's at Lossie for the TBM was my first visit to the base, 4 00 AM start, two trains and a bike r...
