Re: New CAA registrations G-RNTB / RNFA

Same owners as the Gnats at North Weald looking at Companies House. Apparently the F/A.2 is merely a signature away from flying, according to some sources. Maybe, but there is a massive burden of responsibility on the owner of that signature, especially in these (post Shoreham) times. Maybe, but th...

Really like that, FJ. I used to live near Bovington (mid 60s) and what is now the tank museum was in a very fledgling state with lots outside. We used to go by every week as the school used the army pool for swimming lessons. Thank you Iain! I can recommend a return visit to the Tank Museum now esp...

Just to finish off the story of my Tiger 131 build, two more photos, one of the original during the re-enactment of its capture and the other of the model on its final display base depicting the same re-enactment event in the Kuwait Arena at the Tank Museum. I've been meaning to do this but never qu...

Re: Women viewed as ‘property’ in Red Arrows amid culture of male entitlement, RAF admits

I don't know about a permanent disbanding- though those aircraft are not going to last forever- but it was interesting to hear in the news report that grounding them for a year had been considered. Hell of a disruption to the flying currency, though. I've worked in a similarly male dominated enviro...

Futuristic looking beast for 1937 but from the sound of it maybe not the ideal mount. Nice model anyway, very much out of the ordinary!

Re: Interesting Internet

According to Aviation Week, in April 2022 of 51 Tigers, just nine were serviceable. I’ll bet there’s a bit of familiarity (dare I say nostalgia?) amongst the upper ranks, too. Certainly an interesting move, though. About a million years ago I was conferring with the Germans and Italians over the To...

A Bally B-17 also fits the bill: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bally_B-17

Not sure it has the payload capacity though.
Boeing's already been ruled out!

A Liberator would be better (range and payload) but perhaps a DC-6 even more so. How about a Martin Mars?

Damn! Think I read that P-8 was only built in 2020. Thankfully all survived
It does re-emphasise the folly of "Battlestar Galactica" procurement as practiced by our own clowns in government: you have to have numerical resilience in your fleet of anything.

The best thing to do would be for the team to have a few years off and reorganise. And then how would you track behaviour development? Monitoring is the only correct response, though I suspect that given the essentially transactional view of sex across the Services at all levels and by all flavours...

Re: Women viewed as ‘property’ in Red Arrows amid culture of male entitlement, RAF admits

If we have nine female fast jet pilots it would make a point to let them become the team. It would make a better point to ensure that membership is entirely on merit without any quota of any kind and all treated equally. We need an RAF that considers fast jet pilots just as fast jet pilots and is b...
