Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

As an ex-commuter I'm struggling to understand your vision of London. Why do you believe predominantly young people will finish work and head out of London? What jobs do you think they are doing that allows them to afford their own gaff in London, as opposed to the millions of people of all ages wh...

Another year with wildlife

Like Ian I would like to share some wildlife highlights of my year. Hopefully there won't be much overlap with his excellent set! I've kept to the round dozen but failed to keep to one from each month. My life isn't that tidy. Special mention to the foxes whose company has helped keep me balanced th...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

I was at London Victoria train station on and off from abot 7.30 am to about 1 pm and went in to the station four or five times that day. Very few people getting of the trains but plenty of people, mostly youngish, a lot with luggage cases heading for the trains in an increasing steam of numbers th...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

So I don't anticipate a particular age cohort on the move out of London or indeed any other city. I’ve had a long day, and I suspect this would be a circular argument, so I respect your disagreement, but obviously I think differently. I hope as always that I’m wrong, of course. I hope you are too, ...

Re: COVID-19: Your Thoughts and it's effects on you.

I genuinely think the Government are putting Christmas before lives. Omicron is very highly concentrated in London (and already fast-spreading elsewhere). The exodus is already happening, but this week as predominantly young people, responsible though they may be, will finish work in London, and tr...

This is very instructional: https://twitter.com/sebastianepayne/status/1472914382237667331?s=21 As you say quite instructional, however looking at that graph the innate scientist in me has to ask the following question. Given those profiles, why under the current Track & Trace Guidelines are pe...

Which to believe? the latest from South Africa: Vaccines and high levels of prior exposure to coronavirus in South Africa appear to be protecting against the more severe symptoms seen in the previous three waves of the pandemic, according to the country’s health minister. The suggestion that previo...

I thought RAF got a good few in the Falklands or was that the Navy with the Harriers? Maybe the first 'enemy' but the first air to air 'kill' from the RAF in 73 years though, didn't they shoot down one of their own Phantoms in Germany? No, a Phantom shot down a Jaguar with a Sidewinder. Pilot bange...

Interesting to note that Whitty said that a 4th dose of the vaccine will be needed for the vulnerable. Probably meaning all will need it. No, probably not. As knowledge grows they will progressively focus on the people genuinely at risk and not just splatter vaccines across the whole population. No...

Great catch - tinged with a bit of sadness as the end is nigh for the Eagles! Aye, and on a day out last Wednesday we saw only repeat serials among the air defenders, though overall the Eagle activity was tremendous. Lets just hope the LN F-35A boys and girls will at least fly their aeroplanes a lot!

3 out of 4 are women. Well there you go. What were they thinking. Thankfully attitudes have moved on from the 1940s. 'Ere, steady on Derek: I'm sure there were people in the 1940s who appreciated the WAAFs in the radar stations and sector control rooms and parachute packing sections; the ATA delive...

Some great ones (too many camouflage! - the light blue fighters are the best-looking, in my humble opinion). Amongst my picks are Rebel14's head-on collective taxying shot and DeanW's shot with Mont Ventoux is a photo I wanted but missed by a matter of minutes on a very quick detour via Orange. I a...
