I think the first flying one at Mildenhall was in 1983.

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

You might know exactly but as a quick guesstimate - with over 40 years of F-16s at IAT at say 10-20 examples a year on average ( flying, spares and static) . Must be over 500 total F-16 appearances - pushing toward 1000? First appeared (2x Norg flying/spare, 1 x Dutch static) in 1981, I remember as...

Amazing participation from Denmark! Seriously? two F-16s and a Challenger. Don't get me wrong. Great they're coming but a seriously overstated description of "amazing". Its comical! But at least the kids are keen - not grumpy like us ! You might know exactly but as a quick guesstimate - w...

I'd love to see a Tiger Meet at RIAT
1977 and 1991 were both pretty good. :innocent:
Seconded

77 was my first IAT - awesome.

Fighter Meet in 97 was fantastic - even for the 90s!

Just no more PC-9 meets pls

Re: Cosford Airshow 2024 - 9th June 2024

If I was the ACM of the RAF I'd be embarrassed to put the RAF's name behind the Cosford show - (Pre or Post Covid) it has to be the weakest event the RAF has presented (possible exception was 2009 Waddo train crash!) The Danish show on the same day will undoubtedly knock this years effort out the th...

Gonna be a toss-up between Melun & Tanagra this year. Still can't make a decision yet! Last year I was umming and aghhing which European shows to go to in Sept. Decided against Tanagra on the account it was early Sept and most likely would be too hot for me! So decided on Radom and K...

Re: Cosford Airshow 2024 - 9th June 2024

I'm just hoping we get some involvement from our USAF friends at Lakenheath and Mildenhall. I simply don't understand why we see LN jets at places like Athens, but there is seemingly never availability to fly 15 mins away... Have we ever even seen an F-15 at Cosford? Probably because if the RAF can...

Even at your 'worst' RIAT in 2022 with it being a "PC-9 Trainerfest" etc we still had a great weekend with some very rare aircraft in the UK. E4-B, Swedish Historic Viggen, Draken and Lansen, A4 Skyhawk, Boeing 727 and a Hunter all flying in on the Friday was an absolute highlight. We got...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

I thought the 2022 PC-9 Trainerfest show was a deep dark look into how IAT was falling Whereas I enjoyed 2022’s show hugely. If you really really don’t like trainers, then don’t go to a RIAT with “trainers” as the central theme. You can’t argue you weren’t warned well in advance of that one. Differ...

Re: RIAT 2024 - discuss most things thread

A trainer themed show being dominated by the most numerous trainer on the planet, and that’s an issue. Right. It was - 2022 was the worst IAT flying display I have seen and I started going in 77. Yes you can have your Airshow every year and like Cosford it will sell out. I disagree with you on the ...
