Ah, OK so Clacton in the same way Ryaniar name airports
Unlikely I'll see them overhead then if they are out to see. Never mind.

Re: London flypast 11/11
Hi Brevet, Any idea where the Clacton hold is? I live on the coast near Clacton and whilst I know of the local VOR beacon and the 'Clacton route' for flights into the London airports I've not heard of the Clacton hold before. Looking at the lat and log details on the NOTAM it seems to be literally j...

Nene Valley Railway - Sunday 22nd October
Having spent Saturday evening at RAF Coningsby I stopped off in Peterborough on the way back home as I noticed they had a steam day operating. I didn't fancy the crowds at Wansford doing the Thomas shuttle run so opted to stop off at Orton Mere. As it turned out it was a good call. After breaking do...

Re: RAF Coningsby - COAP Air Combat Power Shoot
It's a business called the Centre of Aviation Photography (COAP). They arrange visits and tours in the UK and internationally. As exotic as a wet rainy day at RAF Odiham, to roughing it touring around the US or Japan. Their website is http://www.centreofaviationphotography.com if you want any details.

RAF Coningsby - COAP Air Combat Power Shoot
A bracing wind blew across the Lincolnshire countryside for the few hours we were all on base on Saturday. when they tell you they are parking tankers and a snowplough in front of the Puma to act as a windbreak you know it's going to be interesting. Really enjoyed the experience and loved the 15-min...

Yes me to....made a right mess of the gents toilets
That was really the start of the end for the station, double track removed, signal box removed, siding taken up.
Now we're having all manned ticket offices replaced with a ticket machine....ah progress!

Tornado - The Walton Pier Special
To celebrate 150 years of the railway reaching my hometown of Walton-on-the-Naze a steam special hauled by Tornado was arranged for Saturday 12th August. With the train due at 915 and not departing until 9pm that evening it was negotiated with Greater Anglia and Network Rail to run 5 specials from W...

Harwich & Walton RNLI
A few from the last batch I've processed from the get together of the Walton & Frinton, Clacton & Harwich lifeboat crews in Harwich Harbour earlier this year. Only the Harwich and Walton & Frinton boats could attend (too far for Clacton to still cover their patch). Hope they may be of in...

Inside night shots.....How?
Hi, Not an aviation photography related question but I'm hoping someone may be able to help. I'm taking some photos later this week at a reunion event in London. Nice and easy on a rooftop terrace at a hotel. However, once it gets dark the event moves inside to a function room with big floor to ceil...

Re: RNLI Lifeboats Meet-Up
Thank you for the kind comments. I hope to go through the rest of the card and see what else I have later this week. I always feel I have to get some good ones for the boathouse for the team given the fantastic access volunteering provides me and I jsut do the 'brave' management bits on dry land the...

Re: RNLI Lifeboats Meet-Up
I spent time on both the bigger lifeboats. Each time I basically hunkered down, kneeling in port side of the stern, where the rails form a nice supportive corner. Only issue was I forgot my strap so spent all morning gripping the camera so hard my hands ached later!

RNLI Lifeboats Meet-Up
Just half a dozen or so photos from the annual meet up that our local lifeboat stations at Harwich, Walton-on-the-Naze and Clacton-on-Sea try to have each January. This year with the venue being in Harwich Harbour, it was too far for the Clacton Atlantic 85 lifeboat to come along to without leaving ...

Thanks guys. It was good to find out that those simple plastic 'L' shaped rain sleeves you buy for a couple of quid do actually work!

Foggy, wet and grey - RAF Odiham December 12th
I went on the COAP organised trip to RAF Odiham yesterday and despite the fairly awful weather with all day fog, constant rain or drizzle and the low cloud base It was an excellent event. The visit was hosted by 27 Squadron and they all proved to be extremely hospitable and happy to talk as we fille...

Yeah. Just trying out some alternatives in Lightroom. Otherwise you end up with a stack if images the same as 300 other people
I think the 'slant' works better the closer you are to the subject but that's the great thing with digital, you can keep trying all sorts of different treatments.

Northolt Expedition Night!
After a 2 hour drive from Essex became a 4 hour expedition thanks to the M25 here's my contribution from Northolt on Thursday night. I can a see a potential roaring trade in Northolt 061016 - I was there 'that' night T-shirts https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8277/30056442272_092579ae0b_b.jpg Northolt -...

Re: Northolt Night Photoshoot XXI
Can only echo the comments already made. Superb evening, so many options to shoot and enough engine runs to keep people scurrying around all night. I considered turning around at one point due to awful traffic problems (4 hours from Essex) but so pleased I didn't. Congratualtions Phil, team for a gr...

Chuck Yeager not a British aircraft fan!
Chuck yeager has always been a hero of mine and today got to ask him a question on Twitter. Considering the years of flying the man had from WWII posting in Leiston, Suffolk through to Vietnam I thought there might be at least one of our aircraft he had a certain fondness for! https://scontent-lhr3-...

Re: viewing area at London City Airport
I visited City Airport a couple of weekends ago as part of a photo shoot event around London. There were 3 of us that purely by chance all had the same idea and wound up on the bridge over the dock at the Eastern end of the runway. The flights were fairly steady for the hour or so we were there alth...

London City - June 16th
I took part recently in the Photo24 event in London. A 24 photo shoot around the capital with various themes, meet-ups and competitions. Around 250 people took part I think and it was interesting to get out across the city at all hours of the day and night. I've been wanting to get some images from ...
