Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?

Just in case anybody on here is actually interested in what is happening with the aircraft, and not slagging off the management... 558 did two ground runs today, the second of which was followed by a slow taxi back up towards the fuel farm where it is parked. Surely the first step towards the volun...

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?

Anyone know how successful these stores sales are? Or just how much is left to sell? One can only wonder and be in awe of David Walton for securing so many spares for 558 when in his charge, or else we would not have had those wonderful years of flying. There was in excesse of 600 tonnes of spares ...

Just a reminder that the central stores is having a sale day this Saturday the 18/08/2018. Lots of Vulcan and other aviation goodies for sale. Things going 'bump' in the night again... I do not need to bump this topic, it stays up on it own. This post btw is pretty relevant of the stores open day s...

Sadly my time these days is extremely limited, so I'd be unlikely to be able to fit it in. Anybody else able to step up to the crease?

Bob the builder will be too busy Dan, counting all that money and licking stamps.

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?

Does it matter how much they raise, they have had 4 millon almost in 3 years and have nothing to show for it. They can raise 2 million next year, but 558 will not be secure or have a real hangar over her head. OK well I'm not sure I follow that 'logic' but I certainly hope we get to see how a signi...

After the accounts were released, you also said: Seems to be going relatively well at present... . Actually I think I said that before the accounts were released, or at least before I ( or UKAR ) was aware of them.... Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?

It's no secret that they've been badly limited by the hangar situation and that the new hangar ( more precisely the commercial activity it enables ) is very important for the future The mistake was staying in that hangar after last flight, The problem was they had all got there feet comfortably und...

After the accounts were released, you also said: Seems to be going relatively well at present... I appreciate we could argue this is a glass half empty / glass half full scenario, but I'd contend that things certainly aren't going relatively well at present. The aircraft has been outside for more t...

I'm sure they have a reason for spunking £30,000 of donations on computers in the last tax year. Whether or not it stands up to scrutiny is quite another thing. If it was for IT "consultancy", then there really would be grounds for anger - regardless of who the consultant was. Come on XR2...

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?

You have the aircraft outside, no rent to pay or overheads for the aircraft. It runs its engines once a month at no cost with it being done by volunteers. And the £100 fee for 60 pays the fuel and cost and probaly a small profit. Then by sticking names on said aircraft it raises just short of half a...

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?

Do we know if VTTS have actually signed the lease on the ground for the new hangar to be built? If not, then the whole situation is still 'up in the air' and DRH could still say, nope, Bit more complex then that, They are 2 leases to get over. 1 lease is from the airport too the development group, ...

Re: Where has XH558 thread gone?

If you look at the fund raiseing and selling, every profit made then went into a loss on administration cost to end up a loss. This looks unsustainable just like what the accounts people are saying. Without the names under the wings being such a big success, the trust would be in trouble. What will ...

Re: First F35s to Marham 5th June

With 809 Naval sqn going to be at Marham, are they sharing the 617 jets? Believe it will be a pooled fleet however 809 sqn aren't due to stand up until 2023. The current commitment is 48 jets (with a total of 138) - we've only got 15 at the moment. According to the Chancellor a few years ago, the p...

Honington as always struck me to be a waste of a good complex, with plenty of HAS shelters and conventional
Hangars a good runway and in a quiet location. Perfect for the Reds.

On the other hand, just because the prices are high (too high) for some people, doesn’t mean that RAFCTE are greedy. I can certainly understand that the cost of attending RIAT is too much for some. People who have just gone to watch the aircraft, enjoy the atmosphere and see friends they see once a...

Re: RIAT 2018 discussion

I've no issue with keeping a tight schedule but when its a show stopper like clearly the B2 is then I think they really ought to make the most of it. The time and fuel spent out over Oxfordshire could feasibly have been spent over Fairford. Was anyone even watching the Chinook? I agree on this - di...
