Re: Apocalypse Essex: G-HUEY at North Weald

It amazes me the Huey doesn't get more airshow bookings. Fantastic looking thing!

Re: Duxford September Airshow 2016- 10th and 11th September

I certainly gave positive feedback following Flying Legends as the display to me, seemed a hell of a lot closer than the American Airshow and I, personally, was happy to lose the tank bank to achieve that. Best of a bad situation. Have to see how this turns out but of course they were always going t...

Re: Another favourite aircraft thread :-)

Always loved the now ex Fighter Collection's Thunderbolt "No Guts No Glory" with its checker board cowling, D-Day Stripes always thought it looked the business that aeroplane.

Would be nice to see. Especially if they parked their Sopwith Triplane next to the GWDT's replica.

Re: RIAT 2016

Went on the Saturday, haven't been to RIAT for a few years and I have to say it was simply one of the best displays I've ever been to. Hardly any filler at all. Most of the displays seemed pretty close to me. Especially some of the morning displays, maybe because of the low cloud? The only issue was...

Re: Flying Legends 2016

Went on the Sunday after a Saturday at RIAT, more than a little concerned about the new layout however I thought it was a vast improvement. There were some displays, EP120 as the Joker for example, that felt no different at all and being closer to the aircraft land and take off (I was standing at th...

Re: No access to the "Tank Bank"?

I think Duxford and indeed the Fighter Collection are stuck between a rock and a hard place here. Keep the tank bank open and the aircraft have to display further away or close the tank bank and have the aircraft a little closer. If it does bring the aircraft noticably closer than they were during t...

Re: Flying Legends 2016

Never really understood why Jets would make a great addition to Flying Legends. As has been said, there are shows that mix piston engined warbirds and classic jet aircraft, why would an airshow give over its USP? If it's not for you, it's not for you. I think I've been to every Flying Legends there ...

Re: Fly Navy Day - 5th June 2016

The Sea Vixen, for me, easily the star of the show. Fantastic display from that aircraft. Thought the Fighter Collection did a great job and the three flypasts at the end in formation, a great touch. Some displays, personally, felt much further away than others still. Guess that's going to be the ca...

Re: Fly Navy Day - 5th June 2016

The Fighter Collection's Facebook page, which as a picture of the Wildcat, Corsair and Bearcat out on the apron today, states they have no plans to land at Shuttleworth, which is a shame. Nice to see their Nimrod here though.

Re: New CAA CAP 403 Display Regs Published

Another positive move, from the Great War Display Team's Facebook page: "Safety is the heart of everything the GWDT do and we are pleased to announce we are the first Team to have a CAA dispensation to display to 75m based upon a safety case presented to, and agreed by, the CAA. This required n...

Re: Vintage Flying Event Sat 14/Sun15 May Stow Maries

Went on Sunday and had a great time. Not often you see a B.E.2 in any flying display.

PA system was a bit a of bother but nothing that cannot be sorted.

Look forward to visiting again.
