Re: Air Shows 2024

To me, when I look at a Shuttleworth line up, I'm looking at the visiting aircraft. That's what decides it for me. So although none of the themes sound particularly spectacular (would have loved a return of the Fly Navy event) it will depend on what visiting aircraft are booked.

Does anyone know how much you save on the early bird tickets? Maybe I'm blind but I can't see anywhere where it states how much the tickets will be after he early bird time passes? Doe anyone know when the saving ends too?

I really hope the Saab SK60 wins a few awards - one of the most elegant displays I've ever seen, over multiple days.
Absolutely. Total class act that one! Beautifully flown, so smooth and graceful. (Unbelievably quiet too)👏👏👏

Re: RIAT 2023 Discuss everything thread

Well, I had a fabulous time! 💁‍♀️ Yeah there were a few annoying bits, the new security checks, a few too many of the toilets being closed but that really pales in comparison to the flying I enjoyed. Friday, (even if afterwards I did feel shoes were anchored to the ground with the amount of water in...

Hope everyone that went had a great time!

How busy was it?

Always been a great lover of Flying Legends but it was just too far easier getting to RIAT on public transport from London. Hopefully it will make a return on a different weekend next year! 🤞

First cancellation in the Saab Gripen E, hopefully not too much more. Also hope people are struggling in the queues as the Yellow entrance was pretty horrendous. You hope people are struggling? I cant lie, without more visiting acts added, which is doesn’t say there are more to be announced, this line up doesn’t particularly interest me.

Re: Military Airshow - 2nd July

The J-20 Kraguj was a real highlight for me, love the noise it makes. The Navion was wonderful too. The B-17 did a fabulous display as did the Gazelle Squadron. Yes, the wind did spoil things and tech issues did see a couple of the highlights drop off the display but neither of those can be helped. ...

For anyone that plays FS2020 the Ford Trimotor is free in the Marketplace until the 30th of June.

I wouldn't call it perfect but for free, it's worth picking up.

Re: Flying Legends 2023 - 15-16 July - Leeds East/Church Fenton

I mean, there’s meant to be 50+ WWII fighters according to their socials, so still some way to go - hopefully the Me-262 will be one of them It would mean a departure from the ethos Flying Legends normally takes, not that that's a bad thing especially with a new venue too, just different. The only ...

Re: Disband BBMF?

Not sure if this has already been mensioned, but when 'Just Jane' flies, it can rock up with any civvy Spit or Hurri, anytime. So no need for MoD operation then. There’s a lot of “ifs” and “when’s” here. While I do wish them all the best, I can’t imagine that ‘Just Jane’ will be able to display at ...

Re: Disband BBMF?

I simply don't believe the money saved by disbanding the BBMF would do anything significant to improving anything within the Royal Air Force. I've always been of the opinion that the UK should just fulfill it's obligation to NATO and little else. Without stretching itself it might then be able to im...

I'm sure if you search this forum long enough there are many threads through the years on the apparent decline of Duxford. I think it's clear that the IWM aim Duxford's two airshows very differently, one aimed at a more general audience and one for a more enthusiast audience. Before the IWM made the...

It’s definitely sad about SM845, such a beautiful Spitfire but more importantly seems the pilot is ok and the aircraft doesn’t look unrepairable.

Re: Special Operations Evening Show - 20th May 2023

Thought it was a rather nice evening show, the weather was mostly great, albeit windy. Blenheim was the standout of the evening, as it normally is. Also enjoyed the racing trio opening, who each put on a fantastic display. The Gladiator, Spitfire, Sea Hurricane did some very nice passes too with the...

Quite a strange list for a VE Day Flying Day, in my opinion but some nice additions either way.

Catalina
Dragon Rapide
Decathlon
Jungmann
Fury ISS
Bearcat
Turb Team
Nimrod Mk.I

Curious to know what Sunday 4 June: Around the World Air Show is? Bringing in different foreign aircraft perhaps?
I'd love to be wrong but I severely doubt it. I think it's much more likely to focus on aircraft or types of aircraft that have flown around the world.

Re: RIP The Blades

Personally they are not an act I will deeply miss, was never a fan of the constant mentions of being ex Red Arrows pilots in the commentary or the pretty awful, in my opinion, paint schemes on the aircraft. I can’t deny that though that they were however quite a big supporter of the UK airshow scene.
